I honestly don't believe that age is a factor - it's an easy excuse - but I don't but it as a factor at all.. I'm 42 (ugh) and have been way more successful at weight loss than I was in my early 30s. (I could easily be the poster child for a sedentary lifestyle - I'm a software engineer -my arse is parked in a chair about 12- 14 hours a day - the only exercise i get during the day is walking to the coffee pot - until I go to the gym that is

The higher the starting number, at 1 percent of your total weight a week - 35 lbs is do-able - but if you're starting at a lower number - then it's going to be tougher.
