Rep Power: 0 | | | I'm new, and I could use some advice and encouragement :) Hello All:
I have never used a weight loss forum before, but I've been trying to lose weight my whole life. It's always been a battle, but over the past few years it has been especially hard. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome that both causes weight gain and worsens from weight gain. I am very worried because I already have pre-diabetes, and I know that I want to get pregnant one of these days and pcos causes infertility. If I can lose the weight, the pcos may go into remission, and I may save my fertility and, of course, my health. The pcos has also caused my hair to thin quite a bit, which is pretty damn depressing, I must say. I'm only 33 and am single.
The other specific challenge I face is that I am constantly on road for my job. At the moment I am in Switzerland, next week I will be in France and Germany, and at different times of the year I am in various places all over the U.S. (Believe me, it's not as thrilling as it sounds. It's quite lonely) I often do not have a kitchen in a hotel where I am staying, so I can't cook. So I am faced with a total lack of planning ability, and constant restaurant eating.
And finally, my career puts me in the spotlight and therefore this extra weight is really hurting me professionally. I have about 35 pounds to lose, all of which I seem to carry in my upper body, which is SO unattractive!
Does anyone else have any experience dealing with PCOS, pre-diabetes, or dieting while traveling? One saving grace for me is that I walk everywhere and I actually enjoy exercising. But carbs / sugar in all of it's many delicious forsm, that is my downfall!
I have always failed in my attempts to lose weight, and I often feel like it is hopeless. I always give in to the overwhelming sugar cravings, and then I feel horrible and worthless and the whole cycle repeats. Help!
Thanks.....

Too have PCOS and am pre diabetic and have a metabolic syndrome, which prevents me from using my insulin properly ..but anyway I know how you feel.. for a while I was upset about not being able to have a baby, but I cant. BUT I am sure with your hard work and dedication you can. Don't feel ashamed for eating the way you do, just slowly make changes to the way you eat. Even throw out whatever seems contain large amts. of sugar, like you may have cookies and just you will reach a point where you only eat them once in a while. My diabeties is getting better for myself .. I take 500 mg of Metformin and am supposed to take 1000 mg of Metformin, but I refuse, because it makes you lose weight, and I don't want to lose weight by a pill. I want to lose weight the hard way..
hun it will be a slow process, but your first step was really getting on this forum ..start a diary.. I look forward to stopping into your diary and I am sure others will jump onto your diary as well ..the diary kind of is a good support system ..peeps cheer you on and what not
wishing you the best
keep trecking

I am wondering how you know that you can't have kids? is it anything specific or just the pcos in general? I'm so sorry that you have to go through that.
I am in Munich at the moment and just got back from a very overpriced and massive breakfast buffet. There are so many excuses, today's was "if it is going to cost so much money, I should get my money's worth". Why is it that we see things afterwards but not in the moment?
Is there a specific way to keep a diary here? Thanks. |
