It does sound like good advice, though. I've heard sugar-free candy works, too. | i think that you could maybe try cool water as that probably would have the same effect or ive heard a hot drink will work wonders too especially if you are craving chocolate you can have a hot choc! when i have a diet coke it helps me from craving sweet stuff as the gas makes me feel full and the sweetness takes away the craving

I take a cup of regular, black coffee. I don't add any sugar, sweetener, cream, milk, etc. I take a pack of SF hot cocoa (without marshmallows, lol) and pour half of it in the coffee. It is more than enough to make it "sweet" and it is a great way to flavor your morning java without the guilt. If you are a coffee drinker, this is great!

A friend of mine had borderline diabetes and her doctor told her that the darker the chocolate the better her body is able to break down and absorb it.

Thankfully, that broke my "gotta have it" mentality and I don't crave it near as often. Chocolate was ruling me, not the other way around.

Toss processed or pre-packed foods, loaded with sugar, artificial additives, flavor enhancers and unhealthy fats out the door.
Drink lots of pure water and eliminate sugar-loaded drinks
Eat more vegetables and fruits between meals as snacks
Give a long-term solution for weight management a chance instead of choosing a bad diet promising a short-term gain.
Learn to prepare and enjoy at least 10 new healthy meals

I also would recommend if you can do it that you use only natural ingrediants in your home cooked meal, i tryed this a few years back and not only was a feeling better but i knew that i didnt have the processed crap going into my body!
But remember any home cooked meal is better than one thats come out of a can or container!
