Hilary Duff got into the media's focus at a young and impressionable age. The great majority of teenagers are pretty self-conscious and think that people are paying undue attention to them, that they are center stage for good or ill - be even worse when it's actually true. Even now she's only, what? Nineteen? I prefer to postpone judgement.
Also, while it is true that
fat people do get stared at, your average person won't get blasted for putting on fifteen
pounds when they're in the healthy or below healthy weight range. I mean, I doubt Hillary Duff could ever have been considered
fat - or even chubby. Its different when minor weight fluctuations can bring public condemnation. That'd surely put me on the razor's edge!
