Yes, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to motivate someone else to lose weight. I'm just now getting to the point where I recognize that I have to do this for me, so we each have to come to that realization on our own. Not that we can't help, but until he makes that decision himself, you might end up pushing him in the opposite direction if you aren't careful. But I agree with the others who suggested setting a good example is the best way to motivate him.
