| NL, you have some good ideas. But, you know, when reading your post about food being only for substance and not a reward... This is maybe where we need to strive to achieve, but I think for me food will always be a reward. For example, if I have not had icecream in a month and I was so good and I lost 5 lbs, having a bit of icecream is exactly what I want, even more then a pair of jeans or new clothes. Or rewarding myself with an outing to a nice restaurant with wonderful food. I love to enjoy food purely for its taste! That's probably why I gained so much weight to begin with, but that is something I could never change about myself. I will always enjoy the taste of food, and especially rich foods, and I will enjoy how food makes me feel. I cannot imagine my life without that. However, the change I'm willing to make for a lifetime is the amount of those foods and frequency. To me it is really about learning when to stop and when to say no. I get so cought up in the moment of enjoying food, that I forget I'm supposed to stop. Learning appropriate portions really helps.
Sorry for ramblings, just wanted to share another point of view... |
