Rep Power: 67127 | | | Four Day Win Anyone else reading The Four Day Win: End Your Diet War and Achieve Thinner Peace by Martha Beck?
Seems like a lot of tips to reprogram the way you think about eating. The theory is as best I have understood in the parts that I have listened to (yeah I got the audio version..lazy me! I can listen in the car & at work.), anyway the concept is that it take 4 days to see a difference or feel a difference & to retrain your brain.
Just wondered if anyone else had an experience with it & if the exercises had any impact on getting healthier & yes losing weight.
So far I love her humor & honesty. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Hey MoonGoddess...I am thinking about buying the book. Do you feel that it is a good read? Helpful?
I mainly need a book to read when I'm on the treadmill, and if it was inspirational as well that would be great.

So far & I hate to say it I'm not that far, its a great read. She has a humor I can relate to & continues to surprise me. Its more about retraining your mind than actually weight loss tips. The premise is if you can change for four days, you are on your way to chaning forever. It give little exercises (think therapy exercises) like looking at why you want to eat like crazy. Like imagining a 4 inch tall version of you that knows everything that we should be doing & is ready to enforce the rules & also imagining a 4 inch tall Wild Child that always want to eat anything & everything (bodys way of making sure we never get into starvation mode) & then realizing that we are neither verision, but we can relate to both. We have to accept that both mean well & come to terms that we are in charge. We can know the rules & want to eat it all, but we are in charge & decide what to do.
Makes more sense when she explained it.
I have the audiobook, but I think she is just reading the text not adding in information.
If you have access to iTunes you can preview the audiobook & get a sense of her style & humor to see if its right for you.
Good luck with everything you are trying to achieve! |

Rep Power: 58397 | | | I read an excerpt of her book in O Magazine. It made total sense to me. I struggled to get back on track after the holidays. I hit day four of re-starting this past Thursday. And, I definitely can attest to it. I feel back in the diet groove and I did lose 2.5 pounds. I give the four-day approach a thumbs up! |
