Hi first off I would like to congraulate you for quit smoking that is good for you and as far as losing weight..
I don't like to think of it as being on a diet, think of it a total lifestyle change in your eating habits and exercise and stuff like that.

First off I have been working on losing weight since last October not on here but in general and started at 188 and am down to 164 right taken me that long to lose 24 lbs..I am not much on the exercise so when I do it consist of walking alot. Love to walk. I also put myself of 1200 calories a day give or take a few, sometimes go under and sometimes 100 over but in that vicinity anyway.. I drink at least 90 ozs of water each day, have given up alcohol during the week and may have a couple about every 2 weeks. I have my largest meal at Breakfast, then a Snack, then Lunch, Snack, Dinner. One of the things I do is chart each meal and calories down so I can stay within my margin of calories and then if I gain I can go back and see where I might of gone wrong. Journal every bite you take and exercise for day and water intake.
So I pretty much eat like a King for Breakfast, A Queen for Lunch and a Pauper for Dinner. Lot of times have Fiber One Ceral fof Dinner. and sometimes when have a yogurt put ground up flaxseed for fiber. so for me it is getting easier as I did a lifestyle change and not eating like I use to. The fries and sweets and alcohol..Don't get me wrong I still have all those but for a treat maybe once a month and if don't want don't eat them. You can's deprive yoursef of your favorites just learn when and how much to eat them. Hope this helps you some. my blood pressure has come down on its own and my feet don't hurt like use too, and most of all my clothing size has dropped from 16 to 12 almost a 10 working on that yet.

Congrats on losing 24 pounds that is awesome!!! Thanks for advice also. I'm also eatting 5 times a day and breakfast is just more protein than the rest of my day it helps with not being hungry the rest of the day and trying to stay away from bread. I'll keep you updated on my progress and you do the same.

Smile Good advice-I'm new here and needed it.

I'm new here. Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions. I came here because I know that I have to change inside. Gastric Stapling and Bypass did not work for me. But the good news is that I am down to a weight that I can manage to lose the excess if I change my ways. I'm here to do that. I got some pretty good tools during the surgeries and found some here, and others reinforced who I am.

I hope this works for me so I can feel better about myself. I have wonderful plans for the second half of my life!

Thanks to you all who posted here.

XOXO

Berta

Hi, I'm just wondering if someone can PM me and tell me how to add my diary link to my signature? I've seen others have it, but the URL looks different than mine?

Wow I feel like I'm still the only one in the world that has SOOOO much weight to loss 100 pounds! I still can't believe I got this big. To think a little more than 2 yrs ago I was about 120 and I thought I was fat! Soo funny looking back. I'm hoping it will only take a year to loss all this weight. I know if I don't see results fast enough my boyfriend will leave. Anyway, let's not get all depressed since that's what started my crazy junk eating-ness lol.

Well, today is my first day trying to change my eating habits and trying to be more active. I've very hopeful then again it's only 10am and still have a whole lot of day left.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing good

Your not the only one by far with 100 to lose. I had 119 to lose, and have lost 19 of it, so I'm with you on the 100 left.
First lose the weight for you, not for others. People come and go, but you will always have you. (sounds lame I know, but true)
I recommend starting the food diary, and think about how you can get some more active time in your life (gym, bike rides, walking, whatever). The diary is a bit annoying at first as it forces you to look at what you eat, but once you know that that 550 calorie drink at Starbucks (my weakness) equates to 40 minutes on the cardio at the gym, it makes it far easier to go for something else.
Good luck on reaching your goal!

That's some good advise, thanks

I started writing out my calories and I notice I do great throughout the day about 1200 (plus I don't feel hungry or anything) but then at night (after 9ish) when my boyfriend gets home it all goes downhill. I end up either getting in my car driving to burger king or some other fast food place or I end up at the grocery store buying ice cream, pie, anything sweet. I know it's so wrong but I don't know how to overcome it. I mean I use food to cope especially because if I cry or anything I get yelled at for being "over sensitive" or for "over-reacting". I guess the reason I came on here was for some support. I mean it would be ideal to make friends or to just be able to talk to someone who isn't disgusted by me. Okay, I'm sorry for rambling on. Anyway, thanks Greg

Well your at the right place for that (talking without judgements). I dont think anyone on here is "disguested by you" as we're all in the same boat. It is nice to be able to talk or just let it out without having to explain yourself (I know that one for a fact

So the late night sweet craze, been there, still there occasioonally
What you might want to try in the short term is the flavored yougarts. Boston Creame pie, lime, pina clada, french vanilla, chocolate mousse, there all really good. The regular ones are usually around 160 calories, and the the lowfat, or lite ones go down to 60 calories. I started on the regular ones as their sweeter then the lite ones, but Im down to the light ones now, and if Im still hungry, Ill grab another one and Im still at only 120 calories. Far less than the sweet aisle
But dont beat yourself up either. There will be times when you eat sweets. Often times people go off track a bit then get all depressed, and go into a "well I did this much, might as well finish everything and binge eat". Then they go back a few days later and start again, or just give up. If you go off track one day, no big deal just try to get back on track at the next meal, or day.

It's intresting that the need to eat the sweets starts when your BF comes home (I'm sure some of the female members of the site will comment on this soon). In my mind thats not really healthy and something you should take a hard look at. Food is most often abused when your using it to make you fell better, and getting rid of the weight thats causing you stress and depression will make you feel better, and make getting back to your happy place much easier

Smile Would Like to Offer Hypnosis Information

I am new to forums and posting, so I hope I'm not too annoying while I'm learning the ropes.

My wife, Adoley, and I have operated a hypnotherapy center in Southern California for the past three years. We provide programs primarily for weight loss. I would like to offer our expertise, advice and research findings to anyone interested in this area. Without spamming or soliciting people, we'd also like to introduce our unique programs if requested, if that is appropriate to this forum/thread.

Please let me know how we might offer what we know but be good members of this forum in the process.

Hi, I'm new!

Well I was on google trying to find out if eating carrots would lead to weight gain, and voila I discovered this website. I've been reading a few posts and I must say I enjoyed reading people's comments.

A little about me: I'm a wanna-be health nut and I love to discuss healthful foods, and I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable w/regard to cooking and the ingredients within. I swim almost daily so I eat often, maybe 5-6 times a day. But since I eat so frequently I think it's helped my metabolism to help me maintain about 145-150lbs at 5'10. I really want to get a 6-pack but I'm currently at a 4-pack. The last few pounds are always the hardest to shed, and I refuse to starve myself.

I wish everyone optimal health and ttyl.

Oh Crystal..so sad that you should think that anyone including yourself is 'disgusted with you'......I think you need to look at yourself in a kinder and more positive fashion. OK I know the feeling of 'undoing' all my good work by going out & buying lots of sweet stuff or fatty 'junk' stuff..it was usually to 'punish' myself rather than cheer myself up..I used to think..well if thats how they see me then I might as well get worse! Anyway I found myself talking one day to another girl who had successfully shed over 150lbs and kept the weight off. She told me that self esteem was what mattered-how I saw myself not how others saw me. That I needed to love & respect myself & learn my positives. He ho..not always easy but then nothing important is. Second she told me to plan for those moments. Find a healthy snack that hits the spot without too much damage. One earlier poster suggested yoghurts..I make myself a big tub of fresh fruit salad which I always have in the Fridge for 'emergencies'. Because I have a 'rally' sweet tooth I lace it with artificial sweetner. The third thing she told me was before hitting the cake/pie/burgers etc...stop and really think about it and ask 'permission' of yourself to tuck in...ask yourself will it really taste THAT good...and will I really actually feel better when I've eaten it..or fed up because I have ruined all my good work??? Well that worked for me because I rarely ever now give myself permission!!
