Not getting enough calories...

I usually eat pretty healthy, a lot of fruits, veggies, lowfat dairy etc. Well my goal tends to be in the 1300-1400 range, but when I plan out meals it usually only falls between 1000-1100. I am pretty accurate, I always figure in condiments, cooking additives, "snitches" etc. I know that 1000-1100 is too low, especially considering I work out for probably an hour and a half 4-5 days a week. My problem is, however, that I'm not hungry. If I eat more than that I feel overly full, which seems just as bad. So what should I do, push myself to eat more? Or is my satisfaction with 1100 calories an indication that that is all my body really needs.

Your not hungry eating 1000-1100 calories per day? Are you sure your portion sizes are correct?

If that is what you REALLY consume, just try eating a bit more, add some more vegetables or wholegrains or proteins in, food is yummy! If your eating so low then it means you get to eat more

I am almost positive. I'm pretty anal about measuring portions etc. I understand I could eat more, but its hard without feeling way too full. Bizarre, I know.

Hi there,

What are your health and fitness goals? Are you trying to lose weight, gain weight or maintain your present weight?

You mentioned that you work out 4-5 days/week for 1-1/2 hours...what does your workout consist of?

About your eating...would you be able to keep a food diary ie. write down everything that you eat for 1-2 days...then we can see where changes could be made.

Debbie

i do keep a diary on fitday.

I am 5'7.5" and 136 pounds. I gained a lot of weight since september (was 126 and went up to 142) so I'm trying to work that off. I'd be happy with 130.

I usually run for 25 minutes, some other cardio for 30 (bike, eliptical etc) then I do resistance training for 30 minutes, abs/core type stuff 10 minutes

Easiest way to get a few extra calories into you is by eating natural peanut butter. Dense in calories and has great fats as well. I love the stuff and just have to be careful of over eating it
