But when you're trying to pack on muscle, having a high level of NEAT can make things very tough. |

Rep Power: 8 | | Nice going, Steve.
I joined the forum to ask "Dr." Williams a few questions, and in the meantime you go and ream her out a new asshole. Likely she won't be back now.
Anyhow, I wanted to ask the good "Dr."... Quote: |
Of course consuming 33,000 calories per day, for example, will cause one to be over-weight. Yes -- overeating will make one fat.
| Oh really? Can you explain to me then how people like Tim Janus can chow down on a 10-lb. turkey, 4 lbs. of mashed potatoes, 3 lbs. of cranberry sauce, and 2.5 lbs. of beans in a meal, or Joey Chestnut can eat 103 Krystal Hamburgers in eight minutes and not get fat?
According to your theory, these guys should be blimps. But they're not - they're skinny. So where then did all the extra calories they ate go? And no, they didn't puke all that food up either. Quote: |
The body has two fuel sources: fat and sugar.
| You have heard of something called protein, haven't you? Granted, it's not an efficient source of energy, but nonetheless can still be used for energy if carbs or fat supplies are low. It's just that I hate the blanket statements that you make. Quote: |
Yes, I'm a doctor. It appears that you are a body builder.
| Oh really? You're not a doctor unless you have been to med school for 8 years - and you haven't been. Of course, there are other types of "doctors" (PHD's), but when you tell people you are a doctor, they assume you're a medical doctor unless you tell them otherwise.
You state right here on this forum that you're a doctor. I haven't looked in detail at exactly what you said, but it would only take one person that you've told them that your doctor and given what appears to be medical advice to, to sue your ass off. |

She'll be back anyhow.... she's too high on herself not to be. Quote:

Rep Power: 89 | | Aaahh...I found the thread I was missing out on..lol.
Well, I see all is well on WLF.
I would just like to mention that it isn't necessary to severely restrict whole grains--as the "doctor" said. I eat on avg 100-250g of carbs a day. The majority of those carbs come from fruit, veggies and whole grain bread and cereal. Somehow I've managed to lose 55lbs. I find that comepletely cutting certain food groups from my diet only makes me want them all the more. I've done the low carb diets, and I can never stay on them for long, and then end up gaining all the weight back. This time around I eat a well-balanced diet, and have a chocolate if I want one. I just don't eat the whole bag of them. As long as I stay within my calories, I can afford to eat a few "naughty" things here and there. And really, this is what maintainance is about--control. Once you lose the weight, if you don't continue to watch what you eat, you'll just gain it all back. A lifestyle change is required--you can't go back to your old bad habits once you've lost the weight and expect to keep it off. Therefore, it's good to make healthy lifestyle changes that are manageable for the rest of one's life. And I don't think severely restricting all carbs is reasonable for the vast majority of people. I also don't think it's healthy. 100% whole grains are good for us--packed with fiber for one thing.
Just my 2cents. Sorry if I rambled somewhat off-topic. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
