New member with some ?'s

Hello all

I'm new to this forum and I just want to get started with a couple of questions. I am a senior in high school. I played football for 4 years as an offensive linemen and if i have any fellow linemen out there you know that after you're done, you're looking to shed those extra pounds. I have a well amount of muscle that you can see through my fat and am very strong for my age. I am 6'1" 245lbs currently. I have been working out for the past 2 weeks and started out at about 251lbs. I have been on the eliptical machine for about 20 minutes a day and running a couple miles here and there. Also I have been doing some lifting of weights to keep the muscle mass there. I have some half toned half fat man boobs and I'm trying to get them tightened up. My target weight is around 210 to 215lbs. I just want to know when the gut and the love handles finally start to diminish and also the man boobs. I have already seen some tightening in my face and a little in my hands.

Also I have been going on a great diet. During football season I always use to eat the worst possible foot. Pizza, Midnight snacks, all these chocolate bars, pop, wendy's etc. These past two weeks I have been eating those peanut butter sandwiches, bananas, apples oranges, tuna, Non cream soup, and all the healthy foods out there. Just want to know when some of the results start to kick in and some of your thoughts.

Thanks

I've heard that doing crunches will help with the gut area. I remember LL Cool J talking about it on the Tyra banks show. You just gotta do them properly and not the wrong way.

peanut butter sammies are good for protien and good fats, but very high calorie. Just be aware to spread it thin and not eat too much
Dont forget to keep up the protien and have a steak now and then so you dont loose muscle mass

Body fat comes off in a predetermined, genetic pattern that will be unique to you. Chances are that your 'problem spots' such as love handles, boobs, and belly will be the last place to lose the fat.

The secret is remaining consistent with a sound approach (diet and exercise). Do this and eventually you'll start tapping into said problem spots.

The majority of your success will come from your diet at this stage in the game. Losing fat is all about expending more energy than you consume. Calories are energy.

Being in highschool, I doubt you are about to start counting calories.

By simply 'cleaning up' the foods you eat coupled with appropriate amounts of exercise you will self-regulate the caloric deficit, hopefully enough to establish fat loss.

If this doesn't work, counting calories might be an inevitable evil. Not that I want to scare you.... it's not all that bad. But it's not something I would want to be doing while in school.

The take home point here that you need to remember is consistency. Be consistent and you'll have your results.

Thanks for all the help guys

I have been eating for consistently and cutting out all of the extra sugars, carbs, etc. No more night time snacks and plenty of cardio, low weight high reps and ab works. I started at 252 about 2 1/2 weeks ago now I'm down to a good 244. Once again thanks for all the advice!

Congrats! That's fantastic progress.

I wouldn't be afraid to throw in some lower rep strength work as well.
