Newbie in need of help!

Hi everyone!!!!!!

I've found this forum just by searching "weight loss forums" in yahoo after being a member of a bodybuilding forum.....that was part of my past life! hahahahaha...

so! I am a 19 year old female who weighs about 180 lbs and have a bf percentage of 35% (yikes!!!!) My ultimate goal is 120 lbs (by the end of this year!!), but for now, within 10 weeks, I would like to lose 25-30 pounds!

my size 10 jeans are too tight and my gigantic shoulders/back (i'm bigger up top minus boobs) stretch a L or XL womens.
sooo i'm excited to get hot!

i renewed my gym membership. replaced junk food with healthy food.

now, i need help planning my WORKOUTS!

After looking around, especially in the before and after thread, it seems that alot of cardio is the way to succeed.

I would like your opinion. I am a full-time student, but DO have time to give myself 2-3 hours/day (including shower and dressing) to devote to a healthier me!

I haven't worked out in months...sooo i might want to start slow? right...?

I was thinking
cardio 6x/week weightlift 3x/week
90 minutes on cardio only days and 30 minutes of cardio on weightlifting days.

what do you think?? any advice will be appreciated!

I think you got a good plan. You don't have to take it slow though. don't be afraid to get your heart rate up atleast for short periods. I think the key is to progessively intensify your workouts. so if you decide to take is slow, that fine, but gradually pick up the pace. and i'm sure you already have read this on this forum, but don't shy away from heavy weights. Aim for weights that you can lift for 8-12 reps (some people even suggest lower). Good luck

I'd strongly suggest reading teh stickied threads in the exercise forum as well as the on topic and nutrition forum -= and make sure you've got proper nutrition...

A lot of cardio isn't necessarily the way to go - Cardio, in conjunction with proper nutrtion and weight training is the way to go...

i think that you don't need to do nearly that much cardio....and you need to read the stickied threads as mal said.

sounds like you have a good plan. I would try to start on level 1 of any cardio machine and try to target 300 calories every 30 minutes. as you progress, raise the level of intensity in your cardio. for weight lifting, make sure you don't rest more than 2 minutes between sets, i would recommend 1 minute but you're just starting back so i say 2 minutes. good luck

why not rest more than 2 minutes?

rest intervals is dependent on intensity.
