Rep Power: 41116 | | | Number Gain I know there's probably a bunch of threads like this, I would look for them if I had the patience. I also know that it's important not to focus on scale mentality, but I'm just wondering.
I've had a scale number gain. My weight went up four pounds, and I'm not quite sure why. I had one cheat day this week at 2600 calories, but I've done pretty well otherwise, and I've also been doing exercise. I exercised for four and a half hours in two days. (yesterday, and the day before). 90 minutes of that was swimming in the salt water pool that I swim in.
Normally I try to eat 2100 calories, sometimes it creeps up to 2200 calories, which isn't the biggest deal for someone who is already like...256(now)lbs.
I am also treating my thyroid with Eltroxin XX dosage, which is what the doctor reccomended, and it seems to be well under control, so I don't think that's it. I've been dealing with it for quite a bit now.
Perhaps I should just not weigh for a couple weeks? or could it be something else?

Rep Power: 357933 | | I think the not weighing for a few weeks sounds liek teh best plan...
4 lbs isn't much.. and it doesn't meant that you gained 4lbs of fat - you know that. .it just means the scale changed...
Are you noticing a change in how your clothes are fitting? are they a snugger?
I'd seriously suggest dumping the scale... and going with bi-weekly measurments.. and focus on the behavior... just be as consistent as possible...

That scale is my pride and joy :P
Honestly, I don't notice much difference in my clothes. They fit the same as they always have.
I've always weighed myself under consistent conditions, so I was just thinking ugh. But perhaps I'll just try to get rid of it for a little bit.

Rep Power: 0 | | | I don't know much about weight and muscle, but I've read a few different places that some initial "gains" on the scale or plateaus could be from muscle gain. That could also be a possibility. But again, I don't know that much at this time. Good luck though! Don't be too discouraged!

Rep Power: 3093 | | | Some explanations for scale wonkiness are salt intake (bloat due to high sodium intake) and water intake (water intake flushes the water that the body is hanging onto).
I'd weigh first thing in the morning (after morning pee) and be sure to drink a decent amount of water everyday. |

I suggest to her to make a reduction on the salt intake.

Rep Power: 0 | | | Death to the scale god! The gain could be muscle, with all the exercize. The salt water bloat should resolve itself in a few days if you stay consistent with the water and calorie intake. I would suggest only weighing yourself weekly, that way you give less power to the scale god! Also take your measurements. They often show small changes before the scale or the clothing starting to fit different. this really helps you stay motivated when the scale god is getting you down! Hope this helps! | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
