How much "good" fat is too much?

Since I've been increasing my protein this week and decreasing carbs, I've noticed that I'm getting around 30% of calories from fat instead of my previous 20%. That's because I've added more high protein, "good" fat foods - like sardines, nuts, etc.

I am of course keeping my total calories the same. Do I worry about the % of calories from fat number at all if my calories are where they should be?

I wouldn't. 30% sounds about right to me. I count calories and protein. Thats about all my lil head can handle. I let the other chips lay where they fall.

You are on track. When you up your protein your fat will often have to increase especially if you drop your carbs. I just finished a transformation where almost half my diet was fats and I was still melting away body fat. The protein was high too and the carbs were very low. I don't think it is the fat, or the carbs, or the protein that prevents us from losing weight, I think it is the synergy or lack of between all three.

At first, I was desperate to keep my fat at 15%. No luck. Then I upped it to a goal of 20%. Still didn't hit it very often. Yet I continued to lose nearly 2 pounds a week for 8 weeks. So...as long as my overall calorie count is good and the weekly average of fat isn't WAY off, then I don't sweat it.

Thanks - guess it's always changing - wasn't long ago that everyone was saying 20%!

I pretty much hear everyone and their brother say 30%. I tend to generally stick around that percentage.
