Rep Power: 11 | | | Walking slower for a longer period of time= more calories burned? Okay so i've heard/read a million times it's better to walk slower for a long period of time then to walk fast for a shorter period of time when it comes to calorie burning...
so what if I only have 30 minutes... would it be better to walk fast or slow?
and what about running? is it better to walk for a long period then to run for a short perid of time?
when i'm talking about time and short vs. long I'm thinking 30 mins vs. 60 mins..
lol i'm confused... any walking professionals out there? |

Rep Power: 20 | | Walking slower for a longer time period burns more fat calories than running for a short period but if you only have a short period to work out, it is better to be a little more intense. |

another question for everyone is, what do you consider a short period of time, a long period of time or a good amount of time when it comes to walking/ running? |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Walking vs running Not sure how much you weigh, but weight has a lot to do with how many calories you burn in a given amount of time. Here are some averages if you weighed 145 lbs:
Both activities are done for 30 minutes: Walking at moderate pace (3 mph) = 114 calories
Running at moderate pace (5 mph) = 276 calories
If you stepped up the intensity, and ran at 6 mph, calories burned would be 345.
