Slimfast for breakfast?

Would drinking a slimfast shake for breakfast be healthy?

I need something quick in the mornings because I'm always rushing to get everything done and it seem like I could fit that into my morning but I don't know if it would be a good substitute for breakfast.. When I have the time I do eat a filling breakfast but during the weeks it gets hard and I usually just end up eating a banana and I'm hungry shortly afterwards..

If slimfast isn't good.. is there anything else thats quick and filling?

Thanks,

Amanda

Gator has a reputation beyond repute
You'll save money, feel better and like the taste better if you just have yogurt and fruit for breakfast.

Idunno, personally, I think slimfast is okay for breakfast if you grab a piece of fruit or something along with it. I'll use it sometimes as a substitute for something quick, but I don't follow the slimfast plan, not by far.

You can try it for awhile, see how it pans out and if you don't like it, find something else.

However, a drink isn't as filling as actual food, that's a problem you might encounter.

My impression would be that if your not able to shake off that hungry feeling with just a can of Slimfast maybe add a complex carb? A slice of toast maybe?

Actually, protein supposedly has the highest 'hunger satisfaction'.

So you could try protein powder in your shake - although I normally go with one of the key lime Fiber One yogurt's and Maple & Brown Sugar Weight Control Oatmeal when I'm in a rush.

Well, hasn't their slogan always been "shake for breakfast, shake for lunch, sensible dinner?"

I go with the Weight Control because it has good fiber and the most protein - and I'm trying to keep a good amount of lean protein in my diet.

If you prep in advance, the hard boiled eggs & chicken (not necessarily together) that Mal suggests are also good - I'm just making a suggestion for the days you haven't prepped anything (or someone eats the stuff you prepped!)

At one point I also went with a hard boiled egg breakfast solution. Having them prepped made it a nice quick solution.

However I noticed that vs something like a bagel, ie complex carbs vs protean, the egg solution fared worse in my 'feeling hungry' up to lunch. I have a pretty high threshold for dealing with the hunger pangs so it was not a big deal but something I did notice.

I've since gone back to a more complex carb style solution and overall enjoy the way it keeps me going more. However I am mindful that that egg every morn was a nice way to get protean, not to mention the animal protean for those essential fatty acids, and adjusted my diet accordingly for the rest of my meals.

Thanks for all the advice.. I will consider all the things you all said.. I do eat oatmeal in the morning sometimes and it does keep me full but sometimes I just get so rushed I don't have time.. Idk how I get up 1 or 2 before I have to leave but just get caught up with everything.. I may try the slimfast and add a high fiber carb or a protein with it. Or a protein shake with something with it.. Breakfast is the only meal I'm always rushed with and I want to make sure I'm not skipping an important meal.

Thanks!!

eating or not eating breakfast won't make or break weight loss magic...

Being rushed is just an excuse though for not having breakfast if you want it. Plan ahead a little bit.. Plan your breakfast to go the night before. Plan it a few days in advance... There's always a reason why you can't do something - if you want to do it -then find a way to make it happen

I have slimfast at least once a day if not twice. However, seldom for breakfast because it really does not satisfy me for more than 2 hours max. However, it works great as a snack for me. I mix in some kind of colon health powder that has lots of fiber to help me get enough of that too since I am not big on fiber foods. Slimfast has been one of the top 10 reasons I have been successful this time. Oh, when I do have slimfast in the morning I eat a bananna with it. Now, tell me you don't have time to peel a bananna as you are driving to work/school with your slimfast?

Lol a banana is usually what I eat for breakfast bc it is quick (and I love them) but it doesn't fill me up.

When I was taking morning classes and working I was grabbing slim fast or a protein shake as a last resort and it didn't last long. Other than that I didn't see any problem with it. I just seem to eat alot less calories over the whole day if I get something better in the morning so lately if I'm in a huge hurry I nuke a bob evans breakfast bowl or breakfast sandwich. The aren't typical "diet food" but the calories aren't bad and with fruit for snacks between meals I've had an easier time. When I do have time I eat alot of things that aren't typical breakfast food like sandwiches or soup. But then I work night shift several nights a week so I'm backwards half the time anyway, lol. I just usually can't face eggs first thing in the morning.
