Rep Power: 0 | | | A month... No movement So, I've been training for the past 8 months. Managed to lose like 32lbs. Which is good. Now, all of a sudden, NOTHING'S HAPPENING. I've been eating the same, and I even amped up my routine... But I'm doing P90X now. I found that I'm really toning up, but I haven't moved in terms of weightloss!
Any advice?
The food I eat has helped me with the weightloss over the last 7 months, so why's it not working now? I mean, I'm not in school right now, so I'm probably lazing around more often, but should that make much of a difference? |

Rep Power: 12 | | I think you just need to give it some more time.. esp if you are noticing that you're toning up. eventually you'll hit the threshhold of losing weight again.
But.. you might want to try mixing up your workout routine.. Maybe recalculating your BMR if you haven't already to compensate for your excellent weight loss already. |

Rep Power: 72 | | It's possible that you might be eating too little at this point.
Can you tell us what you're eating each day - how many calories, how your macro nutrients balance out, what exercise you're doing other than the P90x? |

Rep Power: 2 | | i would also look at other factors like food intolerances, if i eat gluten and dairy etc i wont lose a pound regardless of whatever else i eat or how hard i train. if i remove gluten im lean as a mouse! |

Rep Power: 0 | | Hmmn, unfortunately, I've had pretty sporadic eating habits (though I never overdo it, and always try to maintain a deficit)... for about a month now. But I'm not on a rigid regimen like I was before. I'm a bit annoyed though, that I am toning up(yippee) with the p90 but there has been NO weightloss since. I've prbly gone down 1lb, only to put it back in 2 days of not training (which was unavoidable.. injury).
My diet is generally Post Shredded Wheats for breakfast, sometimes with a yogurt...
TheN I go until lunch, which is generally what is cooked, because I'm 19, and my mom doesn't have time to cook two types of food. It's usually rice and chicken, no oil, salt etc. Then I'll probably have a snack at about 3 (ok, this is the sporadic part, because I've just gotten results for a major exam and hope to enter med school in Sept, so I'm ALWAYS out)..... And depending on what time I get home, dinner and exercise.
I honestly can't get away from the carbs, but I always try to limit what I eat. |

Rep Power: 11 | | | It sounds like you need more protein, and if you're exercising a decent amount with that P90X you probably want to eat more as well. |

Rep Power: 0 | | So what do you suggest? I'm getting pretty desperate *sigh*
Hoping this week to go onto a fruit diet (for just a week) and see how it goes. |

Rep Power: 7 | | I'm not personally sure I would do a fruit fast, myself. If you insist on it, maybe consider a veggie fast instead and get enough variety to get all your aminos (full protein chains mang). But I think a fast for weight loss is not a great idea. Doable if you are smart about it, but not wise.
I think you need to adjust your food volume a little either way and give it a week or so and then readjust as needed based on results or lack thereof.
And I should ask, were you counting calories at all? As you lost the 32 pounds did you scale back on cal/food volume? If not, Chef may be right. It requires a calorie surplus to build that muscle mass, and it is possible that as you lost weight your caloric needs came down below what you are eating and put you through maintenance then well into a surplus.
Again, juggle your eats to resolve. |

Rep Power: 72 | | A fruit diet, while working out hard, means you're going to shed lean muscle mass like crazy and be worse off than you were when you started. If you stop eating protein, you'll ruin any results you've gotten already. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Well I dunno what to do. Because I'm back to 175. >.> And this is actually kinda depressing. The only thing I'm doing differently from when I was actually losing the weight is that I'm no longer studying late into the night (like a crazy person) and my activities have more or less dipped.
I'm hoping from September if I get into med school, I'll go back to my activities and my diet of bfast, lunch and a small dinner... The only thing is that exercise will be sacrificed. No space, no time. If not, I think I'll start going to a dietitian. |

What I've found with clients who've stalled out on their current nutrition programs is upping the calories to maintenance for a week or two and then slowly dropping them back down again.
There are a lot of factors that could potentially need changing. If you're exercising harder and your metabolism is slower as a result of the weight loss, you either need to cut back on your caloric intake or increase your caloric intake (if it was too low to begin with).
Your body is different now than it was 8 months ago. It's needs and the tools you employ to lose weight need to be different than what they were 8 months ago. I can see you've changed the exercise portion, but the nutrition element needs some revamping as well. The body's smart and will learn to adapt to 'threats' (losing fat). |
