Are you trying to be a smartass? Obviously it doesn't go in your system and kill 500 calories and get out, though it would be great if it did. What it does do is help build your metabolism and energy levels, which is great for losing weight.
Edit: I kinda feel like an asshole for insulting you seeing as how you're a long time veteran of this forum. Sorry. Quote:

It doesn't mean you can drink or consume tons of green tea and then eat whatever you want and lose weight. | Yes, because i'm going by the sole belief that green tea WILL cause to lose weight and you don't need to diet/excerise in order to lose weight. Geez, get a grip.
But i'll give you another source. Green Tea Extracts Quote: |
To be used with a program of reduced intake of dietary calories and increased physical activity (if possible) to help in weight management (Nagao et al. 2005; Westerterp-Plantenga et al. 2005; Chantre and Lairon 2002; Dulloo et al. 1999)
| This is a much more reputable link as it's a conclusion based on many many research papers done on tea.
There's also the study from the American journal of Clinical Nutrition, which stated "Daily consumption of tea containing 690 mg catechins for 12 wk reduced body fat, which suggests that the ingestion of catechins might be useful in the prevention and improvement of lifestyle-related diseases, mainly obesity."

It really works for weight loss. Just recently the past month or so, i got lazy and started eating lots of food, but I never gained weight because everyday I would drink 1 - 2 cups of green tea.
| Oh look! You did! Imagine that.
And then you said: Quote:
What the hell? If you don't believe me, go look at actual documented cases where it is shown that green tea helps with metabolism, ffs.
Or if i'm wrong, you can prove it to me with your own source.
| So, uh, where in what you presented me does it say that green tea allows you to "get lazy and eat lots of food but never gain weight"?
Oh look! It doesn't. Imagine that.
I think I have my grip, thanks much. |

I think I have my grip, thanks much. | Yeah, I totally needed someone to twist my words and use it for their own self-pleasure.
You're using what happened to me as proof of what I said? I said it helps with metabolism.Whatever I said that happened to me is just anecdotal and obviously in no way would represent what might happen to others.
Of course, if it makes you feel better, here: Guys, you gotta drink green tea! you can eat as much as you want and never gain weight! I swear it! |

Rep Power: 0 | | To an extent, yes it helps. But claims about being able to eat "lots of food" and not gaining any weight just by drinking green tea arent realistic. If you stick to a healthy diet, and drink a cup or two along with your meals, it can help speed up the weight loss by raising your metabolism, because its rich in catechin polyphenols. It also can give you increased energy, meaning you'll be able to exercise more, and lose more weight. But basically it just enhances weight loss, but doesnt start it on its own. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Lol....great thread. I drink green tea and have lost 200 pounds in 2 weeks....sorry...kidding. No.... I drink it because I like it. Do I think it helps loose weight, um no. There just are no miracles that will help you loose weight. There used to be....ephidrine....now that stuff was amazing! But the FDA had to ban it because people became irresponsible with it....overdosing idiots. I used to believe in the latest greatest weight loss/muscle gain supplements years ago.....i guess I lost hope in "miracle supplements" and realized the only thing that is gonna make me loose weight is ME! Think about it....your brain is very powerful....it can be your miracle supplement. All you have to do is program it to loose weight and you WILL loose weight! I kinda got off the subject there for a little bit....sorry. Anyway, I love green tea! |

I heard [product] will do [remarkable, unbelievable process] at [some website]. I'm also heavy because I'm just really unlucky. I hope the dice start landing right so I can drop some ell-bees. Weight loss is the result of minding calories and physical activity. Unless green tea is found to have some anti-matter that only annihilates calories from french fries, soda and twinkies, I'm going to worry less about drinking it to lose weight and get myself on the treadmill! |

Rep Power: 8 | | | Personally, even if green tea did 'work' it would never help me lose weight because I put sugar in tea. Lots, and lots, and lots of sugar. |

Rep Power: 32 | | well... I simply enjoy green tea PERIOD. I really like the green tea with blueberry... its yummm and still has no calories.
it is good for me because i can drink it with just a splenda packet and no cream or sugar in it because its a weaker tea... where as my alternative would be COFFEE with FLAVORED CREAM and splenda hehe |

Rep Power: 0 | | whether you think it helps you lose that fat or not, i think it's a good thing that we can replace our soda intake with something better.
we just need to make sure we don't largely depend on the glorified green tea for weight loss. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
