Stomach Problems

Hey, been reading as a guest for a little bit, has helped a lot. First time post.

So, I am 16, play football at my school, and am overweight. However, I used to be 5'11" and 240 pounds, whereas now, through some diet and extra running on the weekend, I am 5'11" and ~205 pounds. I work out at least 2-3 times a week with weights for football in addition to practices, and run 3-4 miles 3 times a week.

Despite losing a lot of weight from my thighs, arms, neck, etc, I have not been able to lose as much weight as I want to from my stomach. This means like...I've lost a little from there, no longer have man boobs, etc, but still have some fat sticking out at the bottom of my stomach particularly. I usually try to eat healthy, but sometimes I don't, but I try to make up for it by generally eating only 2 meals a day and running further on bad days. For instance, when I ate spaghetti yesterday, I made up for it by running 7 miles today instead of four.

Any advice?

If you're not losing weight, then it's going to be because you're eating more calories than you burn off with exercise. It's really that basic.

The other thing is that it's really hard to "make up" for bad food by exercising. An hour of medium intensity cardio will usually burn around 600 calories. A large bowl of spaghetti with sauce can be 800 or more calories.

Also "making up" by eating only 2 meals a day may not necessarily be the best thing. A lot of people who limit themselves to only 1 or 2 meals wind up eating more at those meals than they would normally if they hadn't skipped more.

I would say the best thing you could do is sign up with a site like fitday.com or thedailyplate.com and start trackig what you eat. That's the only way you'll see how much food you're eating, what kind of nutrients you're getting, and begin to see where you can cut back.
