Have you tried swimming? It is very easy on the joints and once you get your swimming lungs (1 to 2 weeks of 3-4 times a week) you can really start to burn fat.
Another thing is I notice also a lot of people in the forum ask questions about losing weight with no info about what and how they eat or they ask questions about what/how they eat without any info about what they are doing for exercise
If you are modifying one without the other you are wasting a ton of potential progress and making things harder than they need to be. Eating right while working out with goals in mind is the best way to: lose weight or feel better or lose inches in certain areas or whatever your goal is.
RE the knees, have you had your blood work done by a certified holistic practitioner as well as a medical doc?

Rep Power: 72 | | | Exercise is great for you, but until and unless you control your food, you're not going to lose weight. Mark is right - people come in and talk about exercise, but they never mention food, and what you eat is key.
Tell us what you eat, how much, how often? |

Rep Power: 46 | | Do full- body workouts. Things like squats and deadlifts work a variety of muscle groups. Avoid exercises that isolate muscle groups - skip the curls, for instance.
A good full- body workout burns plenty of calories.
For a really good 'cardio' workout that is easy on the knees, try swimming. It's hard to beat.
Or how about fast walking? Walking puts very little stress on the knee.
However, the only way you are really going to lose excess fat is by controlling your diet. You don't mention what you are doing about your food intake. Keep lifting weights and get your diet in order (you need to burn more calories than you are eating in order to lose weight),and that extra fat should come off. |

Rep Power: 72 | | Ben, I've combined your posts into one post so that all the answers you want will be in one place.
It's not necessary to post the same question multiple times on the forum. That's called cross-posting and it's generally not a good thing to do. |

Rep Power: 72 | | A good diet plan means eating a reasonable amoutn of calories, and making sure that you get in all of the nutrients you need each day. If someone hands you a list of food, then how are you going to learn what's healthy and what isn't?
And aside from that, none of us know you. WE don't know what you like, what you're capable of fixing, what groceries you can get ... any of those things.
I would suggest that you start with registering for a free accoutn on either fitday.com or thedailyplate.com and start logging your food. That will let you see how many calories you eat and where your nutrients break down. Once you see what you're eating, you'll be able to see what you need to cut back on and what you need to tweak to get better nutrition.
You want to make protein a priority. After that, veggie and fruit. After that complex carbs. Finally, healthy fats.
Also read the sticky posts in the exercise forum, especially the ones by Steve.
That's a good start that will give you a lot of basic information. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
