Red face Im ready to diet! (Before pics.)

Okay I’m really nervous about doing this…

Im also a newb by the way. ^_^ ahahaha.

Hey my names Krista and I’m 14 years old and I weigh 214 pounds. I’m a size 20 in jeans and an XL in all tops. Also my foot size is a 12 wide. My feet grew A LOT since I gained all this weight. :{

I’m posting these before pictures for a reason…I want motivation from other people. As you all know losing weight is not easy and I need some serious help. I was to lose around 103 pounds and get down to 110. It’s going to be hard but I’m ready to try. I eat 3 meals a day and I snack alot. Witch is the problem. Dinner usually consists of burger king. (That’s why my cholesterol is sky high. It’s another reason I’m on a diet.) Another big problem is my mom…Yes I know that sounds harsh but here is the thing…I ask her for health foods like salmon and she flat out tells me no. “It’s too much money” As She likes to say. Anyway its 99% my fault the way I am…I’m the one who chooses to eat when I’m upset. I need to lose weight.

I would appreciate it if you guys leave me some replies. I need some advice on what good foods I should eat and stuff like that. : P

Thanks a bunch. XoXoXo

-Krista

nikerz82 has much to be proud of
Hey Krista welcome to the weightloss forum.

You look so much older then 14! if I was a bouncer at a club I would of let ya in, so you coulda fooled me lol..

now I dont wanna heap on mum, but she really should be helping you with this "food/shopping wise" alot of people are under the impression that "health food is too expensive" when its not really... tuna/salmon is no dearer then sandwhich ham and is way cheaper then burger king and way more better for you.

Im just guessing here, but have you fad dieted before? reckoned you were gonna loose weight and then lost interest instead? Maybe mum wants to see that you are committed to this and serious before she runs out and spends money on " Health foods " my advice... stick to it no matter what, even with limited healthy options... If mum sees your serious, I bet she comes to the party and supports you more.

Best of luck and loss 2 you!!

keep us posted

heya and welcome =)

First of all, you're very pretty as you are!

Secondly, it's good to take care of this young, just be careful..and I agree with Niker..maybe your mom wants to see you dedicated to this before she starts buying other foods. Maybe you could sit down and have an honest talk with her and let her know you're very serious about this and that, even if it might be "more expensive" it's for your own health and making sure you live a healthy life. Those few extra dollars will pay off when you'll be living a life with very little to no health problems!

heyy

hey krista im mary, im 18, im a spanish speaker so im sorry if i write things in a wrong way haha
okay i had the same problem with my mom, she always was like u are so fat bla bla bla but the only food that we had at home was fat food so 2 months ago aprx i decided to start making sports and start eating correctly so I had a serious conversation with mom and she agree to let me go to a nutrion program with a girl who tells me how and what to eat, then I started to go to the gym 4 or 3 times a week and 2 days of the week I go swimming, all those thing help me to loose 6 and a half pounds and I keep going down.
so I think u have to talk with your mom and tell her that u really want to loose weight and do things so she can see that u are saying the truth.

U CAN DO IT!

brideinwaiting is a splendid one to behold
Hey Krista,

Welcome to the forums, I'm new too First I just want to say I know just what it's like to really want to eat healthy foods but not be able to because they are expensive. My fiance and I are college students and we are on a tight budget! Between needing to buy cheap things and things we both like (he hates fish), its hard to eat healthy.

There are some ways, however, to each cheap and healthy, too!

Tuna, when purchased in bulk or when it's on sale, can be as cheap as fifty cents a can! That's one meal and that's cheap. Your mom could totally get on board with that. And if your only option is fast food, you can always opt for a salad (only use some of the dressing... fast food dressing is high calorie), or just get one item! I'd find myself at Taco Bell getting 2 or 3 items off of the menu when I should have limited my intake to 1 thing! If you just eat fries or one burger, it's better for you than getting a huge meal.

Another thing I can recommend (I need to take my own advice cause I haven't started my diet yet, either!) is not eating past 6pm. It's so hard to do that if you stay up late but not eating past 6pm really helps and shows quickly!

Anyway, a few pointers to get you started. I wish you the best of luck! Let me know how things go. You seem like a really cool and motivated young girl!

Hiya Krista,

Welcome to the forums and congrats on your start to weight loss.
Eating healthy foods doesn't have to be expensive. There are a lot of good alternatives out there including tuna and tilapia. Also, if you keep an eye on sale adds from grocery stores, your mom might be more inclined to buy fish when its on sale. You just have to help her help you.

Chicken is also great if you can't always do fish. I'd avoid buying the pre-packaged/pre-cooked ones since those tend to be full of all kinds of injected fats, additives, preservatives, etc.

Have you ever looked at Fitday.com? Its a great way to keep track of what you're eating and it gives you a better idea of what your current diet looks like when it comes down to caloric values.

Keep us all posted on how things go! I'd really like to see how you kick off your healthy eating habits

- Sunny
