Rep Power: 6 | | This is so hard!! O_O *before* (for now) I seriously hope no one that I know sees this haha. D:
So today is the first day of my weight loss "journey." There's not a whole lot to say except that, I'm tired of being overweight. I have been overweight my entire life and, there's really no reason except for my sheer laziness that I should continue living like this. My being lazy has caused me to become depressed
and have little self-confidence. It's stupidity really. I just need to get off my butt and do something. I have all the time in the day to work on this but instead I have chosen to sit infront of the tv or my computer and gain more and more weight. It's time that I change this.
Because this is the first day, I will begin by listing some basic information.
Weight: 255lbs
Bust: 50 inches
Waist: 45 inches
Hips: 59.5 inches
Height: 5'2" BMI: 46.6
I took some before pictures today and hopefully soon I can have some during pictures.
I figured I'd throw in a before face shot too so I can see how my face has changed along the way =/

So what do you find so difficult? Is it the physical aspect of it like exercise and nutrition or do you have more trouble with the mental aspect? |

Rep Power: 217 | | | There's a quote I use frequently from an old book (and movie) called the Power of One - the book and movie were about apartheid - but the quote is quite fitting to most things n real life...
A waterfall begins with a single drop of water - and look what it becomes... (ok so it's paraphrased sort of)
To get the waterfall you want - you need that drop of water - small changes that are consistent - and consistency is the key become big ones and before you know it - you've got the waterfall... |

Rep Power: 13 | | Good luck First of all congratulations on taking the first step. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a step and you have done just that.
Accepting the fact and understanding that you need to lose weight is winning half the battle and once you have that decided which you have you are well on your way to winning the rest half of it.
Just remember to take it one day at a time and enjoy your little succeses on your way.
Good luck and there is a lot of support and experience from people here on the board which will surely help you along the way.
I can't wait to see your afters/during. |

I've never been very active at all, even as a child so I need to get used to that. I just get super frustrated every time I try working out because I get winded and tired easily D: |

Rep Power: 217 | | so then start at a lower level... and work up to more intensity.. .
any activity is better than none at all you do not have to run... walking is fine.. just keep progressing...
start wiht walking 15 minutes a day - if that's too much then 10 minutes a day - but keep doing it - and each week evaluate how you're feleing and add on 3 minutes...
Too many people get stuck into they have to do XXX and lose 20lbs a week - that's not reality... you have to start somewhere -and if somewhere is doing a lap around the couch during commercials then so be it - but next time - do two laps...
controlling your food intake is the easiest way to go about it - spend some time with the stickied threads i the nutrition forum - to get a base set of calories for yourself -it will be a realistic number that you can live with without being hungry...

You're lucky, actually. For most it's primarily a psychological problem. If it's the physical aspect though.... that's simply a matter of matching the right mode and intensity of exercise to your current capabilities and building upon that foundation.
Is there anything that you like to do that's active?
If not, what is it that you have available to you? |

I'm not going to try to lose massive amounts of weight right away. I want to keep it off and I've heard you usually don't keep it off if that's what you do.
My thing with food is, I don't eat much but I skip meals often. I used to eat a lot from elementary to high school. I've noticed that since I stopped eating that much I've lost weight. My heaviest was 283lbs. Though, I need to work on eating healthier and regularly. Quote: |

| That works . O_O I was so afraid of posting my before pictures. I mean, I don't even let my boyfriend see me like that hahaha. Quote:

| I'll admit that I really dislike doing much of anything. I'm really lazy but, I have access to a treadmill, some free weights, and a bowflex. Though, I'm pretty sure I'm going to join a gym. There's something about the environment that I enjoy. I had a membership but never really went. I'm going to try that again. |

It would be a problem if the irregularity led to binging where you totally overate. But you're saying that's not the case.....
Also, you have to be eating a good bit to maintain your current weight. Excess fat only stays on you if you're eating enough in so that your body isn't forced to tap into it's existing stores of energy (fat.)
You might be surprised if you start tracking it a bit closer.
Have you seen FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal Quote: |

| Wow, that's cool that you like the gym atmosphere. Anything to give you that boost right now is good. |

Rep Power: 6 | | Yeah, I've noticed that since I cut down on my eating I've lost quite a bit. My heaviest was only about 3 months ago so I can already see a difference.
I will check out that link, thank you ^_^
The gym thing is pretty nice. I enjoy the one I used to go to because it's not that crowded and the people there are quite friendly. |

Rep Power: 13 | | You are beautiful; you will look smoking hot once you get down to your goal weight......Mal and Steve have already given you a lot of useful information just one more thing make sure what ever you do be consistent with it; even if you do not feel like excercising say to yourself " No Choice, No Choice, No Choice..." this is how I get my ass moving.
Also draw up a list of why you want to lose weight and post it on your refrigeratior, bathroom mirror, dresser mirror where ever you can see it and read it to remind you everyday why you are doing this and what you want to achieve; this really prepares me everyday pyschologically to make sure I excercise and watch what I eat...... | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
