90 POUNDS LOST IN A YEAR (Need help for the last pounds)

Hi guys,
I'm new on this forum so hello to everyone I lost 90 pounds between march 2008 and december 2008 and i'm only 18 years old. But I need some help !!! My body is not exactly how I would like it to be...It seems like I have excess skin but I'm not sure...Do you guys think I could get a defined body because it seems harder to loose 5-7 pounds than the whole 90 pounds I have lost !!! So I was wondering if you guys could give me some tips to get a more ''ripped body'' because I was so fat and I got skinny but I still feel fat but in a different way...I thought about taking ephedra but I'm not sure if it is a good idea...So do you think it could be possible to get the ''slim'' body I always wanted so badly and if you could give me some canadian fat burner recommendations/trainning recommandations so I could finnally be proud of my body....BTW I started with a 40-42 waist size and i'm now a 31-32.

Thanks and sorry if I dont have the before pics

My opinion is that you should learn about 'calories restriction' for life and you'll definitely get to 28-30 waist.

I don't see loose skin, but what I do see is what a lot of people here call "skinny fat" - low bodyweight, but no muscle definition whatsoever. I'm wondering how you lost the 90 lbs - did you lift weights? Did you do cardio only? Did you manage your calories and your nutrients?

My suggestion to you would be to quit focusing on weight and start focusing on body composition. Start lifting weights - productively, not pumping up your biceps and lats to the exclusion of the rest of your body, and not doing the whole gazillion reps thing. Read the sticky posts on weight lifting and start with a full body type of routine that includes squats, bench presses, deadlifts, and lunges - as well as body weight work like pushups, chinups, dips, etc.

The only way to build muscles and get that "ripped" look you're talking about is to stress the muscles by lifting weights - and lifting HEAVY and consistently.

Like I said, read the sticky posts. You don't need to lose more weight; you just need to build what you've got better.

I do not see any loose skin. To me it looks like you just have a little more body fat you could loose. Don't get me wrong, you look great! But if you're looking for the toned look you'll need to do some toning - crunches, weight lifting, push-ups, lunges, etc.

The only bad thing about building muscle is that your now going to have to start eating more. Which is really hard to do when you focused so long on losing weight. Also as you build muscle your weight is going to go up, so try not to freak out when this happens.

There is still some apparent fat confirmed by avg only waist size and no way will he look chiseled if he doesn't take of it, IMO.

If he moves into a plan where he's working on building strength and muscle, that fat will most likely take care of itself. I found that when I first started lifting weights (and was similarily flabby) I lost fat without even planning to. If he just focuses on losing that last little bit of fat the way he has been, he'll continue to look flabby and out of shape, even if he is very skinny.

Well we disagree. There is nothing wrong being skinny with not much muscle. Losing fat <> gaining muscle.

Other than it being unhealthy you mean? Studies have shown that when you lose weight w/out taking care to maintain lean muscle, it affects your hormone levels. It means weaker bones. It means more likelihood of osteoporosis as you get older. Losing muscle mass while dieting is unhealthy.

Aside from that the OP himself said:

So clearly he WANTS to have more muscle and he does think there's something wrong with being skinny with no muscle. Perhaps your advice could work towards helping him get what he wants, rather than pushing your own (incorrect) ideals on him.

Hi guys,
thanks for all your answers...so I now have a couple of questions/comments after I read everything you said. First I am happy with the fact that I dont have any excess skin because I was sure I had some ! And how long do you think it would take to look like the average skinny teen boy.

exemple

Do you think I should take some type of fat burners ?

And what type of workout should I do ? If you could give me some exemples of things to do at home and the cardio / muscle building ratio...

Thanks again

No to the fat burners. They don't burn fat - they're a waste of money.

I said it before READ THE STICKY POSTS.

You'll get all the information you need from those threads. If you read them and follow the advice in them, that is.

Sorry, but this is demagogic and unfounded. No need to build muscle, but regular sit-ups will help.

To the OP, forget fat burners and take a look at what I referred above.

Here is a link.

There is a new world behind this.

It it neither - do some research.

Anyone who advocates "regular situps" is very obviously clueless. First of all, situps are the least effective fat burning exercises. Situps are also quite bad for your back; there are far more effective ab exercises that don't risk back strain.

Losing fat while not working to maintain muscle is unhealthy. Period. Anyone with a brain isn't going to argue against that. If you do, then you have an agenda that is not based on health.
