Im new

Hey everybody, on October 1st I started a workout and diet routine to get my self back in to the shape That I was in in ninth grade. I am now a senior in HS. My diet consists of protien, fruit, fiber, good carbs, acai supplement, good fats, and over 1.5 gallons of water a day(evenly spread out of course, and I love water). I run 2 miles a day 5 days a week with weight training 5 times a week. Weekend is misc. exercise(no weights). I also play basketball everyday. My mom knows enough about nutrition to become dietician. Both my parents were in the military and both know what it takes to get in shape. My dad was an army ranger and a bodybuilder at one point. the reason That I am telling you this is so that you know that I know what im doing as far as exercising and diet and I am not blindly trying to get in shape. I have already been to a dietician and they said I have my fathers lean muscular build, however, I quit almost all physical activity after I broke my arm and gained over 60 pounds since my freshman year. I just turned 17. NOW onto my photos. The one with the skateboard is what I want to look like only more muscular, and the hideous picture is of me now at 220 pounds, at 5'10"

whoosh will become famous soon enough
You can dooo it

Your plan sounds great. Another thing I would suggest is eating 5-6 smaller meals a day rather than 3 big ones. It keeps your metabolism working hard and it's more natural for your body to have smaller quantities - you won't get that horrible bloated feeling. Eat slow and stop eating when you're full. Worked for me.

Your body type and genetic fat storing areas are nearly identical to mine... it's almost like looking in a retroactive mirror... good for you for trying to get a handle on it at 17. I wish I had started to lose weight at your age. Please keep us updated with your progress!

I'm 5'11.5" and I got up to about 245. I remember when I was 220 (Early august) and now I'm down to about 200 give or take a couple lbs either way. I wish you the best of luck and just remember these two things:

1. Never, ever, give up. No one ever accomplished anything by giving up.

2. If you don't kick your own ass at the gym, someone outside of it will. So push yourself to the limit always, and you'll reap the benefits.

First, forget the Acai supplement. Its a waste of money and studies are showing that there are no fat loss benefits (it is high in nutrients i think though, but you don't need a fad supplement that is going to cost money when you can get that from your regular nutrition. Fruits + veggies are all you need in that respect.)

Second, great job on the loss and at 17 you are at the perfect age to lose weight. I've read a few times that people are far more likely to keep the weight off if they lose it in their teens than later in life (I won't make up a number since I don't remember, but it was very high).

Keep at it!
