So, here we go.....

First of all, I've never been a slim or even average person by any means. I've weighed in the high 190's to 240 since high school (30 now) I've always had a slightly stocky build. About 3 years ago I weighed 215 and thought it would be wise to change my eating habits a bit so I watched my calories a bit, limited fast food and soda, I eventually lost 15pounds and a shirt and pant size. Over the last couple years I've settled back into my old habits and have gained the 15pounds plus 5 more back. I can't make any excuses about this other than I started to let things that I can't control start to affect me.

Anyway fast forward to now, I'm 220 pounds and have found myself a lil depressed about it. So I thought that I would post here for some motivation while I start a new eating and exercise regiment. I'm 5'10" by the way. My goals are to loose 35 lbs by my next birthday (March). I'm trying to limit my caloric intake to around 1600-1700 a day. I'm also starting a bodyweight/calisthenic work out 4 days a week. I know I'm gonna have to incorporate some cardio in there, but I absolutely hate running, so any suggestions would be great. My goals are to loose a couple of pant and shirt sizes I'm now a 36-38 in pants and an XL in most shirts. I'd like to be a 34 or a solid 36 and be able to fit a L shirt comfortably. I'd also like to gain a lil bit of muscle.

Here's a couple of photos to show you where I'm starting from.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Exercise machines at gyms work great. (Could even buy a cheap used peice of equipment, don't buy new, tons out there for sale!)
Skipping rope is very great, though it is very exausting quickly. Jumping jacks.
If you are any type of swimmer, laps are good.
Fast walking is better then nothing, just listen to some music.

Good luck buddy, make life changes that you will be able to keep up for the rest of your life!

Congrats for taking that first step. I really prefer the exercise bike becuase you burn more calories in a shorter period of time. Also, if you have a buddy who will walk with you it is so much more enjoyable! Good luck on your journey and keep us posted!
