Rep Power: 7 | | | 75 Pounds in 2008 Hi all,
This will be for people with a decent amount of weight to lose (obviously). I've made a goal in 2008 to lose 75 pounds. Since July I've averaged 1.5 pounds a week. That is around 75 pounds in a year and right in the middle of the recommended 1-2 pounds per week weight loss advice.
I feel this goal is very do-able [unlike my 10 pounds a month goal when I started in July] but also won't be easy. If you end up losing more than 75 great! Start off 2009 75 pounds lighter then you are now.
This provides a two week buffer where weight loss isn't needed as 1.5 a week would equal 78 pounds in 2008. This could make up for muscle that is gained as well.
To break it up it will equal about :
6 pounds a month
19 pounds every 3 months
37.5 pounds by July

Rep Power: 85 | | I just want to wish you and others that join you good luck with your challenge. Fortunately I do not qualify as I have lost a lot of weight in my project which started in late February.
I also wanted to confirm that your goal is do-able for the larger person. Like all things it will take effort - but the rewards are amazing.
Good luck! |

Rep Power: 20 | | I'll second the confirmation that it's doable. I've lost 50 in 7 months, and plan to hit 70 before my year is up, even with slower / no loss during busy season. But I don't have another 75 to lose in the coming year, so I'll be cheering from the sidelines. |

Rep Power: 7 | | Sure you can join!
If you have less than 75 pounds too lose then your goal is to reach your target by the end of 2008. |

Rep Power: 85 | | In that case I will happily join in if that is ok. I certainly want (and will make every effort) to lose my remaining excess during 2008. I have over 50 pounds to go. |
