Rep Power: 12 | | Try not to worry too much about your goal! the main thing here is that we're losing! I'm not thinking I'll make my goal either but as long as I'm not gaining, I'm happy |

Rep Power: 5 | | You'll lose it.. Keep reminding yourself why you want to lose it and how it'll make you feel when you've reached your goal. (Esp before you're about to eat that dessert or thinking of not exercising!)
That REALLY keeps me motivated to keep losing and meet my goals!
Hope that helps a little! |

Rep Power: 9 | | It happens to me to, sometimes it just seems impossible that I'm going to lose weight, I'm so used to be fat! But fortunately last year I lost 10 Kgs (22 lbs) and managed to keep them off so when I have doubts about my ability to actually do it I think that I've already made a step in the right direction and that keeps me happy and motivated. |

Rep Power: 9 | | Ednita, I know how frustrating that is. I think the key for me was finally finding a diet that didn't starve me and respected my tastes. I have done so many 1200 cals diet and everytime I just got famished and nervous and the moment I started eating normally again I gained everything back. It just didn't work for me. Luckily I changed my doctor and he suggested me a 1600 cals diet: I lost (and am still losing) weight slowly but steady and I never gained it back. I also changed my attitude towards my body, I'm giving it time to achieve results, I'm no more expecting to lose 20 lbs in a month or such crazy things that I expected when I was younger (not that I'm old now, I'm26). I respect myself more. Sorry, went a little off-topic!
Angelica, I'm glad you found my words useful. I always hope my experience can help others get to their goals without having to make all the mistakes I made. |

I was doing the 1200 cal diet and I'd been messing up cuz I just can't stand it so I went to the Dr. and he totally changed my diet to a 1800!!! pfff he expects me to get to my weight in 8 months ... I really want to get there! I knw I have to be patient but its like I can't wait hahaha
How does everyone think it sounds? 1800 cal diet? How much calories are u all doing now? I'm really nervous |

How does everyone think it sounds? 1800 cal diet? How much calories are u all doing now? I'm really nervous | Hey eDnIta,
The number of calories that you need to lose weight depends on your current weight, height and body frame.
For example, I'm 135 right now (or at least I was until last Saturday) and if I have a 1800 calorie diet, I will never lose weight because my height is 5.2" and my frame is small so I need to stick to 1000 calories a day(which are enough for me since I workout too) if I want to go from 145 lbs to 120 lbs.
BUT if my friend weighs 200 lbs then 1000 calories a day would lead her to starvation & frustration and NOT weightloss!!
SO - It's all very subjective.
I hope that helps!!
Good luck with your weightloss. I'm sure that you'll achieve your goals! |

Rep Power: 9 | | parikp is right. it varies. Give it a try for two or three weeks and see if it works. You may gain a little at the beginning but then you should drop it off. When I went from a 1200 cals diet to a 1600 cals one I gained the first week.
Remember that if you lose at a reasonable pace ( 4-5 lbs/month) there are fewer risks for your health and fewer possibilities for you to gain back when you start eating normally again. http://www.hpathy.com/healthtools/calories-need.asp here's a daily calorie intake calculator if you want to take a look
