Exclamation Amazing Cravings Stoppers!

I found this in this weeks Womans World magazine....

Are you craving sweets? Salts? Scientists have found that each craving you have actually reveals something deeper that your body REALLY needs!

ICE CREAM?

What your really craving :less stress!

There is a reason you want it, research shows: Just feeling the cold, smooth texture of ice cream in your mouth triggers the release of galanin, a neuropeptide that relaxes you instantly! It also is a symbol of childhood, making you feel less stressed and carefree

Rx: Do something else that brings you back to your childhood days, like jump rope or going to the playground w/your kids!

COOKIES OR DOUGHNUTS?

What your really craving: a quick energy jolt!

A sugary-carb craving is a sure sign you need to boost your energy.

Rx: colse your eyes for a few moments and let your mind wander. Just a quick "time out" can help you feel more refreshed!

CHIPS?

What your really craving : a thrist quenching drink!

Believe it or not, when you crave salt, its the subconscious way our body tells us to drink!! Surprisingly, when we are dehydrated, we often dont' feel thristy!

Rx: Help yourself to a tall cool glass of water!

CHOCOLATE??

What your really craving :relaxation!

chocolate contains phenlethylamine (pea) which is the chemical thats released when your in love! Its also loaded w/ magnesium (ladies, during your period your magnesium levels drop, which is why we crave chocolate!) which helps you stabilize blood sugar and makes you feel calm!

Rx: Take a 400mg to 1,000mg magnesium suppliment (w/ doctors approval)

PIZZA?

What your really craving: a break!!

We tend to crave rich comfort foods like pizza and mac & chese when we are overwhelmed and frazzled;simply b/c they bring us back to a happier time!

Rx: Take a walk! walking for 10 min's activates the part of your brain that controls happiness and pleasure

BURGERS?

What your really craving : a mood boost!

We often crave meat for the iron it provides which prevents deppression and fatigue. Research has shown 30% of woman need more iron in their diets!!

Rx: take a multivitamin that includes iron and eat other healthy iron rich foods like beans, whole grains and spinach.
