Rep Power: 0 | | Pretty Lady I got this from a book called "Tales from the Scale" this book is awesome! If you've spent a long time trying to lose weight (and all the emotional baggage that goes with it, please get this book!) Pretty Lady
IT'S BEAUTIFUL WOMEN MONTH & TAG YOU'RE IT!!!
Did you know it's beautiful women month? Well, it is and that means you and me. I'm supposed to send this to FIVE BEAUTIFUL WOMEN, and you are one of them!!
Facts on Figures:
There are 3 billion women who don't look like supermodels, and only 8 who do.
Marilyn Monroe wore a size 14.
If Barbie was a real women, she'd have to walk on all fours due to her proportions.
The average women weighs 144lbs. and wears between a size 12 and 14.
One out of every four college-aged women has an eating disorder.
The models in the magazines are airbrushed - NOT PERFECT!
A psychological study in 1995 found that three minutes spent looking at a fashion magazine caused 70% of women to feel depressed, guilty and shameful.
Models 20 years ago weighed 8% less then the average woman. Today they weigh 23% less.
Interesting stuff huh? I kinda like it Really if you get a chance get this book, not only does it help encourage you with funny stories of REAL women trying to lose weight, but it makes you feel better about yourself while you're doing it.

Rep Power: 20 | | | Thank you for that post michele! I have to say that lately Ive been so impressed w/ Dove's new advertising... they have started this Real beauty campaign and they show very average everyday women..some chunky some older ..whatever..but they show them & celebrate their beauty. What a wonderful thing to show our little ones and those who are older as well that people get it..they just dont want to admit it. Sure we all envy people who look so perfect..but like you say in your post they airbrush that crap... so hello..they are going to look perfect. I will definetely check out this book... thanks! |

Rep Power: 0 | | Thanks for that Micheal! I remember seeing facts like that about Barbie only there were like 10 of them. The only other one that I remember is if Barbie were real, her eyes would be as big as her lips.
I especially like the supermodel one.
About Marylin Monroe: I believe the sizes back then were different than they are now. If you buy a sewing pattern even now, they have sizes like they did back then and a size 14 is equivalent to the modern size 6 pants size. But at least she wasn't a size 2.
And not only does the average woman weigh 144lbs, she's only 5'4" as well. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
