Newbie here and eager to get started.
Walking to work is not feasible for me (18 miles one way in Florida summer heat), but I do own a treadmill.
I had a total abdominal hysterectomy in June and am still restricted to lifting nothing over 10 pounds for another 30 days, but my surgeon has told me I can begin walking for fitness as long as I don't overdue it and make sure to stop if I feel any abdominal strain or pain.
A year ago I was walking 3 to 5 miles a day 6 to 7 days a week. Because of the pain and being ill all the time due to Stage 4 endometriosis, I had to stop. Now that the endometriosis is gone (thanks to the hysterectomy), I'm ready to get started.
I could really use the support of a walking club. Left to my own devices, I tend to be a slacker in the fitness area. Accountability should keep me on track.
Is this still an active club? Anyone want to help keep me honest and kick my butt when I need it? LOL I'll be glad to reciprocate! |

Rep Power: 12 | | I see this club is rather quiet right now. I hope that changes since I'm finally able to get back into routine.
Walked 2 miles Wed on the track. 2 miles on treadmill Tues and 1 mile on elliptical, not really walking, but want to count that in there. |

hahah lol, I feel the same way...when people say...Oh I walked 20 miles today..I feel put to shame. I used to walk the same amount as you, about 3.5 a day. I have actually fallen off the horse and have yet to get back on. I was doing so good, and now I am being lazy again. This sucks. I am actually going to go walking right now..I hope..lol. I am sure I will get side tracked! :O
I love walking, i think it is the best exercise out there and anybody can do it, regarless ailements! Keep up the good work everyone.. |

Rep Power: 6 | | I'm in for this, although I am a slow starter. Right now I am trying to walk 1 mile a day, consistantly. But I am going to start walking on my lunch break today to get in some extra mileage.
Mal, I don't know how you do it girl. 18 Miles My poor legs would go on strike!
