I know how you feel, I use to weigh 395 pounds (currently 326) I still have a lot to go but weighing so much it seems like it will take forever to drop the weight. Honestly though if you try really hard when you weigh that much it melts off really really fast if you stick to a good diet and work hard. When I weighed 395 pounds my doctor basically told me lose it as fast as I can because the weight was much more unhealthy than dropping it fast. I ended up losing 10 pounds the first week then about a pound a day down to 325 though I was very active with football and such.

Of course I made the huge mistake of letting go after high school and regaining weight, that's the one thing that you have to watch for. If you don't stop yourself you have to start over and I have done that a few times. Losing seems easy once you get into a routine but the hard part is catching yourself when you fall.

That is so true. Losing is easy once you get in the right frame of mind. Trouble is that we are in this club because we have trouble getting into mindset. Having like individuals going through the same challenges does make it easier though.

i guess thats why i'm feeling so frustrated for now, because i was eagerly anticipating to find out what i'd lost, only to find out the original reading was wrong...so i'll never know. I've decided to stay home today in order to just relax my mind and mentally prepare myself to get back there tomorrow. I've never worked so hard in my life for anything, so i won't let a minor setback knock me down. thanks guys.

Now I'm stuck at 325 pounds, for the last 4-5 days I always ALWAYS plateau at 325. I try exercise, starvation everything and at 325 every time I get here. No matter what weight I start at 325 is always where it gets stuck. When I started losing weight at 395 it got stuck at 325 when I start at 340 it gets stuck at 325 when I started this time it got stuck at 325. Its like my body don't want me to get past that specific weight. I know plateaus are normal but why is it always 325 it stops at?

so sorry to hear that dave, i wish i had an answer for you but i'm still just at the start so know nothing about plateaus. i did however see a thread somewhere on the forum about plateaus....hopefully that might help? all the best though.

by the way, i just joined the super mega weight loss challenge...i actually wasn't going to because it seemed like such a long serious commitment, but have given it a second thought and decided that i'm going to do it. afterall, what do i have to loose but my weight, right?

Smile rainy sunday blues...

it rainy and humid outside... on days like today i am actually happy because it means i don't have to go play tennis with my family! thank you lord for this miserable weather...

sadly it doesn't give me an excuse to skip the gym, so i will have to get there soon. i'm currently at 307 pounds, and i really hope to be out of this club in the next two weeks or so! it'll be my first time venturing back into the 200's in 4 years, so i'm a bit pumped! wish me luck!

Do you track calories? Do you know approximately how many calories you're burning (BMR + activity)? If you know those things, you can figure out a couple things. First, whether or not it truly is a plateau and you're not just sort of sabotaging yourself. Secondly, a possible way to rectify the situation. For example, if you've been running at an unhealthy deficit for a while, your metabolism may have slowed down. Steve would be the best person to speak to about that. Or if you haven't made any accounting for your need for less calories as you've lost weight, then you'd simply change that.

Either way, I hope you're able to work something out.

Well it is possible my metabolism slowed down, I count my calories closely every thing I eat or drink gets wiritten down and added up as I go. Although I cant really say how many calories I ate last night because people chose to celebrate my mothers birthday at the King Buffet. I pretty much ate till I couldn't anymore but I was happily suprised to find that as much as I could eat was 1/3rd what I use to eat when I went to a buffet in the past.

For the most part my calorie intake varies alot some times I consume 1,300 some days 2,500 but usually stick within that range. I burn about 3,500-4,000 while doing nothing ub a day.But at my job im on my feet 8 hours moving boxes so could easily stack on another 1,000 calories burnt. I lost 8.6 pounds in about 6 days before I hit the brick wall.

Thanks, and congrats yourself! With my past track record I would usually say you'll still beat me out of the 300's... but I'm feeling really motivated by a desperation to be healthy, so I think I will actually make it!

If only it were possible. You can do it and it will be all the sweeter when you do.

Hi, I'm working on getting out of the 300's. I started out at 338.8lbs, I weighed two days ago and i was 301.1, So excited to get under that 300lb mark, but after two days of pusing myself harder with exercise, and staying in my calorie range, I'm 306 today. It makes no sense, I didn't binge or eat anything that would put me up 5lbs. But it sure is disappointing when you are so close to a goal and then you are hit like this. I need to keep motivated, it's like an untouchable dream to get there and I thought it would happen, now it's like I can't make it. Weird. Just a thought.

Well since I got stuck I have decided to try and go a month with out using my scale. I know this wont solve my plateau but it will be easier to stick with things if I think I am losing :P I have always checked my weight every day and I always gave up on my diet because I get discouraged when I get stuck or gain weight when following my diet. Not saying this will work for anyone but I think im going to try this for myself.

Thanks, I've been thinking that myself. I think my body does strange things, holds fluid and stuff, but in the end, all my clothes is loose and I know i'm losing, I have to give the scale a break and set a date to weigh, then I can concentrate on my eating and exercise, it will all even out in the end...it has to if you do everything right. Thanks for the thought!
