I am trying to find a good breakfast to start off the day....

Which seems weird being said by a chef...but being a chef is part of why I am overweight...I cook very gourmet foods which tend to be very high in calories, and have trouble setting up my own healthy meals.

I know what is good for you, and what is bad...but what I don't know is what is enough breakfast? Not eating enough in the morning can be a very bad thing indeed...as we all know.

I tend to get up, shower, and hit work...I have been doing a yogurt / protein shake, and fruit. Is this really enough? I am not a picky eater...and if I can find a good basic morning meal, I would just use it daily.

Any ideas? What has worked for you guys?

Chef Soli

For breakfast, I start at 10am with a cup of ceral and a 1/2 cup of milk (soy).

But then I eat small meals every couple of hours after that.

You definetly need something in the morning to jumpstart your metablolism.

I may stick with the protein shake / yogurt / banana mix in the morning...maybe I will experiment with throwing some grape nuts in there or something...

The protein shake fills you up very nicely..and with the amount of weight lifting I am doing...the protein is a definite plus. With the amount of weight anyone in this club is trying to lose...maintaining protein levels is very important.

Losing muscle while trying to lose weight is like slashing one of your own tires to see if your car drives better... and the protein helps build new and maintain current lean muscle amounts.

I am just rambling....tonight was my arms lift...and I'm all light headed now...haha!

Until next time,

Soli

For breakfast I usually have either:

Oatmeal w/flax seed

or

Kashi GoLean Almond Crunch cereal mixed w/ Yoplait 100 cal yogurt

Then on the way to the gym (usually 9am) I'll have a Clif Bar. That works out to about 450-600 calories before working out.

Today is my rest day....I LOVE Sundays......ahhh

I have tried the super healthy breakfast and I'm hungry abut 30 minutes later. Mine is just a simple couple of eggs a few pieces of toast and some turkey bacon. It's not the worlds worse for you other than the salt in the turkey bacon. That keeps me full for a few hours.

Woohoo! I just weighed for the week (I always do it Sunday night to avoid seeing minute daily differences) and I lost 11.4 lbs this week! I didn't thinkthat I had lost more than 2-3 lbs, which is what I'm shooting for, but 11.4! I am almost out of the 300s, and I'm exited. Keep working guys, I know that 300 mark looks a long ways away, but if you're doing things right, every day you get a day closer.

My 2 cents

Hello everyone,

I am sad to say that I belong to the 300club. At my highest, I weighed in at 384lbs. Now I am sitting at 360. It's not much, but it is a start. My goal is to get dow to the 190's, but anything under 200 would do.

I hope to meet others that are in my same boat.

p.s. Not sure if anyone wonders, but I am 6'0"
