Rewards!

Ok ... I have decided that if I have something to work towards, I do much better ... that is why I love our "groups" so much because it gives us all a little challenge. Anyways, I've decided that if I have something to look forward to in the future, something to strive for (other than all the obvious things such as - ohh .. weightloss, muscle, new clothes, bla bla bla lol, thighs not touching, toned body ... ok so you get my point hehe) that I do work much harder and much better to get to that. I am going to do somehting special or buy myself something that I normally woulnd't just run out and buy for every 10 pounds. I was thinking 5 pounds, BUT hopefully I'm going to be losing steadily so ... might get a tad expensive. My rule though is that I cannot have this special treat be food or anything of that sort...nothing that goes in my mouth lol :P Anyways, I am starting this tomorrow so ... if anyone wants to do somehting similar or join in, feel free to post your "treats" or rewards, whatever you like to clal them! haha* I will have to post a little later ---> this is going to require some thought hehe* It needs to make me work hard!

it has to be something inexpensive.... soo.... if you had your eye on a cute candle, or a pair of earings )from walmart or somewhere cheap.... or a cute pair of undies.... or some nailpolish.... or, check this out.... everytime you loose 5 lbs, you buy yourself a $5 gift card to your fav store and let them accumulate..... or you can use them every once in a while!

That's a fantastic idea Christina! $5 for every 5 pounds; it's not too much to put out, but it really adds up! When you've lost enough to finally wear that special nightie or whatever, you've saved enough to buy it with your reward money. Makes it that much more special. You are really good at coming up with great motivation. Oh, by the way, didn't get a chance to try the gator. Oh well

That is such a great idea Christina!! That's it - that's what I'm doing hehe* For every 5 lbs. I lose, I am going to get myself a $5 wal-mart gift card ... and therefore, when I feel I deserve to cash them in ... I can buy it Good idea!

actually a rechargable visa/mastercard would be kewl too! every time you lose 5 pounds, add 5 bucks to it and it accumulates til you reach your goal. then you can spend it anywhere and if you changed your mind on what to buy yourself, it wont matter cuz visa/mastercard are good everywhere!

awesome idea, skinny! i think we all have a tendency to reward ourselves through food. ("oh! i lost 3 pounds this week, i can have this donut", "oh, i did so well last week, this GIANT BOWL OF MASHED POTATOS won't hurt", etc) that's what they were telling me at jenny craig, learn to reward yourself in other ways. my first 20 pounds i bought myself a Michael Kors bag. for my next ten, I think i'll buy myself a chi straightener. And when I'm once again able to fit into the seven for all mankind jeans getting dusty in my closet, i'm going to buy these babies: Rock & Republics

it's an awesome way to really keep your motivation up, i agree.

Somethin to consider

Turtle.....you ARE beautiful!!!....Would you put up with people calling you names?.....I dont think you would...so STOP doing it to yourself!......When you look in the mirror say something like....."Okay I need to lose some weight...I wish my blank was more smaller...and this was more toned.....but I have a sexy ass smile...and my legs look great in a dress....I guess I am really going to focus on working out this week"...
Dont brow beat yourself.....the more you tell yourself how fat and disgusting you are...the more you start to believe it and then it just poisons your mind. I know it is soooo hard in this losing weight battle...and your young so its more about looking good, smaller sizes, and acceptance from your peers.
How much weight would you like to lose?....What all diets have you been on?

oh i have no problem with acceptance! i'm in an awesome sorority, have awesome, gorgeous friends, date regularly, have had a few semi serious reletionships. my social life has never been affected. i guess it's just i have a fear of what people are REALLY saying about me. it's just a paranoia, i'm sure. but i hear my room mates complaining about gaining a pound or two, and they're all like 115 pounds! and i'm just like shut up! you've got nothing to complain about!

summer after my freshmen year of college i went to a weight loss camp (camp shane) and lost about 25 pounds in 6 weeks, then became a counselor for the last 2. i was about 10-15 pounds shy of my goal weight. i had never felt better about myself. when i got back i did a pretty good job of keeping it off.
then my doctor put me on high doses of prednisone for about 4 and a half months, where i gained around 60 pounds. since then it's been a constant struggle with my weight. i've done weight watchers, liquid diets, seattle sutton, south beach. about a month ago i started jenny craig and so far have really enjoyed it.
in high school i battled anorexia and bulimia and was almost hospitalized for it. i think that's why, today, i am so obsessed with the way i look and hate it so much. but i REFUSE to go back to those old and unhealthy ways, and often have urges to starve myself, or binge and purge. but, i am past that point.

i want to loose about 60 more pounds.

what diets have you tried? sorry for the novel!

Turtle!
....I loved to hear about your successes!!!!!....What a wonderful feeling!...I have read how people have gained weight while on prednisone, And the struggle to take it off. Its so unfair how you need medication and the side affects that come with it.
Alot of people like Jenny Craig and lose alot of weight with it. I am doing weight watchers myself....( for the third time mind you...lol...)....but I like it beccause it doesnt make me restrict any certain types of food....I hate feeling deprived!!!
My sister had both bulima, exercise bulima, and a short time that she went trough anorexia. She had to have surgery to replace all the gum lining in her mouth because all the acid from throwing up had ate it away. I had a hard time with it because I use to think she was doing it because she didnt want to look like me......But I know better now what it is all about....
I have tried sooo many diets...I even did the one that they gave you a shot in the ass!!!!......And a couple of years later I tortured myself and did it again!!!!..lol
As for your skinny friends saying they need to lose some weight......I understand!!!.....I am one of the biggest girls here on this forum....and there is alot on here that weigh between 150 to 185.......A weight span that I WOULD LOVE to have........lol.......But I dont suggest any one to gain themselves up to 300 lbs to feel good about what they weigh now!!!!.....lol......That would be interesting.....have women dress up in a REALLY fat suit and live 24 hours as a morbidly obeses person trying to make it day to day......Either the results will be that they think they are fine at the weight they are and just need a little improvement.....OR...They will starve themselves and become obssesive not to EVER be that way.........

Turtle, you are gorgeous! And you have come such a Looooooong way.
When people see you, they really are not commenting on your weight, the only comment I can see them saying is how attractive you are. I love your hair! It's sooooo cute! I hate my hair, cause it is pin straight on top and in front... but in the back it is super curly. and not like a good curly, like a dry, broken static curly... LMAO!
ANYWAY!
I used to always think peeps were commenting on my weight, but then I realized it was ME that kept bringing it up, most the times....
