Anyway the question is, How effective is belly dancing, and dancing in general ? Good excercise?
I mean my schedules are a bit tight now days. So was wondering if it would be an good idea to switch something with belly dancing/ dancing
Lilhun,
I have heard belly dancing is VERY good .. it really works your stomach and legs .. and just about your whole body .. I once met a woman who lost all her weight and kept it off by belly dancing ..so go for it ..

and I suck at dancing ..
and you can eat a little chocolate, it wont kill the lifestyle change ..dont restrict yourself all the way ..if you do that than you might start binging and that is a horrific cycle to get into ...

best wishes

Hey guys!

WOO that took so long to read all the stuff I missed...

I don't plan my weekly or daily meals, lol, I think I would go crazy.... I think I gave an example of how much food you can get away with eating while staying in your calories... lol... I am totaly keeping track of my calories, untill I know how much food is to much and how much is to little.. I want to do this right, and for life....

Some of you sweeties were worried about me. Thank you... I truley had a very very hard day and then turned night. And actually last night I drank a little bit (I don't drink at all), and I had a few cigerets too.... It was a low point. I do think my marriage is over, and well I had a bit of a melt down... I was on the phone with one of my friends for 3 hours last night and that helped a lot, and I'll be ok... Just going to go threw the emotions...

Dispite all of that.... I'm back on track today. It's a new day. I went to the local goodwill and took a look at there video section (umm yeah who knew there were movies at goodwill?) anyway walked out with FOUR work out videos for a buck each... Oh I was so happy... Three are Pilates, and 2 were brand new and came with some kind of risistance band... Oh yeah, sooo I worked my big but off today. I did two tapes of Pilates( 1 hr and 20 min). Suprisingly I thought they were really easy... hmmm but I did feel the burn!!!!

Well I think you all are great, and I'm so happy I found you guys. I gotta tell you it feels so much better feeling like you are part of a big team!!!

Pilates is a lot of fun Hope..
I am glad you enjoyed them, and so much exercise! You go girl! I kind of am planning out my meals now. I am being very health concious and it seems to be working, but all out planning I dont do, but I have two eggs now in the morning with one slice of ham, a thin slice and I usually have cereal as my second meal and strawberries and oranges during the day if I feel like it ..if I have the snacking bug or I am hungry. I usually just make an orange my third meal at four pm and than at eight I have my supper, which I try to take small portions .. I am making them smaller and smaller everynight!
BUT you sound like you are doing damn awesome! and I am sorry you are going through what you are, but you sound extremely strong and thankful for friends, they can really get you through. I am happy your friend was there for you sweetie ..

I hope you continue to have better days!!
Pilates as I said, is a blast .. enjoy!!

always

Hey gang

Sorry I have been MIA for a while, I haven't had time to really post, I only have time with short bursts it seems like...

I haven't lost any weight in a while...kinda depressing but I am trying to do my thing and hope it moves...it may be realted to that TOM, so we will have to wait and see I guess.

My biggest problem is grazing when I get home and I still haven't found a way to deal with that after all this time.

Ok enough whining...I see everyone is having success and that is a great thing to see

Glad to see you Ali!
As far as grazing, it is very hard to stop. It takes a lot of willpower. I just open the fridge and I talk myself out of getting food.. its extremely hard to walk away. Like there are chips sitting on the table in the kitchen, but I havent touched them for two days, but I gaze at them every time I go in there, and it can be hard. But it honestly takes a lot of thinking, talking to yourself, asking yourself whether the food you want to ingest even though your not hungry is worth making your waist line bigger, and thats what I think .. my first this is "are you hungry Natalie" and of course I am not ..so than I ask myself why I am at the fridge or why I have opened a bag of chips and I quickly get a head of what I am doing and clip the bag closed and throw it back, or quickly close the fridge and find something to do ..because I eat a lot out of boredom...
Well I hope your able to figure your way out of grazing .. I used to do it all the time..its a hard habit to break, but you can do it .. I know you can!!
Keep up the good work hun
and dont be hard on yourself
your human, you will figure your path out ..

always

Kevi I think you have what they call....endurance...because you work out every day for 2-4 hours. For someone such as myself who has been living a pretty sedentary lifestyle, is just starting to be active, weighs 276 pounds and can last only 5 minutes tops on the elliptical...If I try to do 30 minutes as I am now, I may either have an asthma attack or a heart attack and die Fitness is something you have to work at, and a beginner cannot go to intermediate or advanced overnight. I know that one day I will be able to do 30 minutes on the elliptical, but right now it would be

Sorry to hear about your knee by the way!! hope you feel better soon.

Lilhun and Nataliejo this is an elliptical machine:

Hey Nataliejo I am so happy to hear that the new route is working out for you and you did so well. Glad to know that you will be discovering the dancer within you in the comfort of your home too trust me its fun. As for yoga, you can do it. The first time I did it, I did it for 2 hours!! I mean it was none of that crouching tiger, hidden dragon, spinning ankle behind neck stuff, but it was pretty good. I looove stretching. It also made me feel more acquainted with my body...I was alone, it is my body and I was stretching it and bending it as my body and mind were able to. Believe me it may sound weird what I am saying, but when you do it, you will see what I mean. It gives you a sense of balance and comfort. All you have to do is focus on the present, breathing, stretching and for me Indonesian or Raga music You can do even 2-5 minutes to start and build up your stamina. I am sure you will like it.

Hi Lilhun and Veronica. Bellydancing absolutely rocks. It is a great work out and you learn to move parts of your body in ways that you did not know you could. Another thing so great about bellydancing is as Nataliejo said, it works practically your entire body. It does not require movement of only a few parts, but hands, eyes, hips knees feet waist chest arms back, everything. I could never do it in front of people, but I like doing it alone. There is no criticism, and no essential wrong way of doing things, if your movements at first are a bit awkward who cares, no one can see you and you can take your time and improve as you like, but the most important thing is to move, be your natural, sensual self and have fun! You will get an awesome workout that way.

Hi Hope I'm happy tou joined this thread too and WOW 1hr 20 mins in your first shot. That is too cool, glad to know you got back on track so fast!!

Well I'm off to bed now guys. Have a good day tomorrow everyone

Pink Clouds,
Thanks for posting up that Elliptical for Natalie Jo and LilHun. And thanks for the information about bellydancing.

Natalie Jo and Lilhun,
An elliptical is like a low impact version of a treadmill. You can walk and run on it by increasing your speed. Unlike a treadmill, you control how fast you are going, there are no set speeds you can choose from. It is suppose to be good for men and women who have kneed problems or any other type of joint problems.

Have a nice day everyone!

Veronica

Ah so a crosstrainer... atleast we call that elliptical a crosstrainer here.
Hmm, might buy one when I get some money somewhere!
Also thanks for posting the picture!

Hmh I gained from 135.5 kg, up to 136.5 couple days ago... Due to the fact I started eating more... Though, now im back to 136.1!
So yay!
I noticed that pair of jeans I bought well.. 2 weeks ago, are too big for me. They were a bit saggy when I bought them, but now they are WAY too saggy and big, they dont stay up without an belt anymore.
And one of the smaller jeans I bought then.. they were tight, but now they fit me perfectly.. Im on the right track! Horay!

Hmm now that pink said its good work out.. the belly dancing, I might start doing it! First I have to ensure that my door is locked and barrigated, and that my window curtains are tightly closed!
Then the fun can start

Also, I really hope your knee gets better kevi !

And than I thought about how I want to be able to hike mtn blue easily ..and so I decided I needed to do it, for me and for the people I want to hike with! Goodddyyy! I did it!!
I would love to know how to belly dance lmao ..that would be wicked awesome, and its such a great exercise. I do some movements with my lower body, but I don't move my stomach much, except for this one crazy move..lol

Congratulations on losing a pant size! It's expensive but yet oh so awesome to have to go buy smaller pants! Yeah you are on the right track so keep on keeping it on (or in this case off)!
