New Year, New Thread for Those who Weigh 200 lbs/90 Kg or More

I know that you are out there!! I have seen you around I tried posting to an old thread, but I am a bit impatient and am looking for people who are on the same/similar journey as me. Do you weigh more than 200 lbs / 90 Kg? Are you looking for support or someone to share the journey? Are you starting your journey in 2008 or are you already on your journey? I welcome you to join this thread!! We can do it!!

Sorry I was MIA a bit this week...sick and all...

Thank you so much Heather!! You know honestly I have read so many of your posts and I think you are so sweet And personally I love sweet things, that's why i am 274

But seriously thank you so much for the encouragement!! It is a rough road sometimes. For the past year I have been all set and ready to go and I cannot count the amount of times I have had health issues!! More than in all my life. Even this week i was so sick for three days, BUT I am still going to keep up as much as I can. No more lapses right! Not only do I want to lose weight but I want to be more healthy...that's what this is all about for me! Well...ok its all about the cuter clothes too, but you know what I mean You can do it too!! I hope you reach all of the goals you have set for yourself this year, weight loss and any other goals you have set. And may all good things come to you.

Have a fantastic weekend!!

WHOA Potnoodle...Ok this is so weird because totally I meant M.I.A. like Missing in Action...BUT surprisingly I am mia. I have always wanted to talk to someone else who is...but I was like always afraid to admit it openly, actually before now, only my closest friend knows. I have managed to suppress it now for about 7 months...well sort of. I did some research about it when it got a little out of control last May, and I found out that all my life I have been doing it in various ways so sometimes even though I thought I stopped I never did really.

I think you will understand me when i will say I am finding it hard to tell you I am happy you are able to suppress it. I mean it is the best for you healthwise, but from the perspective of someone who is..I guess we are a little in denial about it sometimes and there is like a combination of shame and pride with it, even though we know about the health risks. And like since I am in the suppression mode right now also...it is better to feel nothing at all about suppressing it (like to just feel normal) than to feel happy about it.

Happy you found me Its so difficult to talk about mia to someone who is not. Especially when you are not typical of what they think it is. Many do not realize it is much more of a psychological thing even if there is no action that they can see. I don't know if we'll be talking about it alot since we are both in suppression mode, so no worries if you do not feel like replying LOL

Have a good weekend potnoodle you made my day today!!

CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss by the way You are so not getting old!! LOL I think its just that you found a MUCH much better way to reach your goals than mia

Cheers to you!

Hi Pinkclouds, yeah i totally agree it is a very underground and not spoken about in regular dieting forums, but i do wonder how much it goes on even here. If you think about it, its just another option, like gastric surgery or taking pills, except its prolly one of the most unpleasant. I am 38 now and have used it since being at school, I am 6ft female so am often thrown male insults, particulary when i start going over 15 stone. This time for some reason I have managed to find the inner strength, I dont know if looking at the thinspiration pictures on the internet is enough to stop be bingeing in the first place, but i am tending more towards the ana side now which is equally unhealthy. Glad to find a kindred spirit on here!

Just reading your thread again pinkclouds, i think the other thing that stops me is the number of teeth i have lost. I have lost loads of my back ones, and am rather ashamed to be wearing dentures at my age Hate to think of the damage i have done else where. And for what? I still put the weight back on, and was never really *thin* until I had an overactive thyroid. And you know what? i even put my life at risk by not taking the carbimazole tablets to keep my thryoid even, how i didnt have a heart attack i dont know. And for what, just to be thin! Ridiculous isnt it, the things we do to lose weight, i blame the media

Hi Emily so excited u came along ,

My name is Ginger, but I don't mind if you want to call me pink clouds or pink or clouds or anything else really

I do not know what my heaviest weight was, but I am sure it was above 300, because I was looking through my pictures and found a really thick one...and I was much thinner at 289. I'm at 274 now.

Weight loss is kinda goin' ok...weekends are rough for me!! And this is a looong weekend, but I think I'll do ok, I've been trying to do other things to keep myself busy lol. I have not started exercising yet, but I have seriously been thinking about doing High Intensity Interval Training between the elliptical machine and the treadmill. That elliptical machine is great!! It absolutely kills me though...

Good luck to you with everything, especially with getting back on track. The literature of the weight loss program I am on always says if you get off track with one meal, start eating good at the next meal. I think that's a good thought...especially since if I get off track, I always plan to get back on track the NEXT day

Hey KDel, you're emoticon is appropriate for what we are talking about believe it or not LOL no need to feel lame, its a good thing that you have no idea what we are talking about!! Google "ana mia" and you will see what I mean. I don't know why I have such a problem saying the actual words...

Hiya Potnoodle,

There are definitely others on here, well especially ana. I have seen threads with people on 500 cal diets and lower, some people below their ideal weights who want to lose those last 30lbs, and some others.

You know, I had no idea about the dental damage, I mean it makes perfect sense, but I never knew about it...well I knew about gum damage. I'm starting to have dental problems now..in fact I was trying to make an appointment for a dentist on Friday LOL but I think my problem is not related to mia. Never thought about mia in comparison to gastric bypass...i dunno i think gastric bypass has it beat on the gruesome stick.

WHAO you are 6 feet tall!! I can only dream, I am 5'3." I am absolutely crazy about fashion and often watch the Style network...fashion trance and makeover shows. On one makeover show, there was this professional stylist who was making over a woman who was 6 feet tall. She didn't like her height really, and he said something to her I absolutely loved...

"Girl, You are a GLAMAZON!" OMG I loved that. YOu are so lucky!! Even in six inch heels..heh...i am not up there! You have model height, you are soooooo lucky! You glamazon you

About your thyroid and coming off of carbimazole to stay thin...I totally know what you mean. Last May I was on some meds that gave me gastrointestinal bleeding and I was still mia!! This is what actually inspired me to stop. Tending towards ana now eh? DON"T DO IT!! lol. I can understand it, I think mia definitely has its ana moments...more often between binges I agree with you though, both are equally unhealthy.

LOL@the cause being the media!! A lot of people say that, but you know what I think? I think the root of the problem is a silent narcissism inside of us and the media is more like a tool we use for inspiration. Think about it, even when people were bothering you about your height, deep down inside, you did not accept what they were saying to you because you KNOW that you are absolutely gorgeous. I'm extremely small framed and simultaneously morbidly obese. Most people think I weigh 100lbs less than I do, yet I am still fat and still get crude remarks from people from time to time. Does it bother me? At times yes, I get annoyed and might cuss them a little. Does it affect how I feel about myself? HELL NO!! Because I have self confidence and thank God I appreciate my beauty. I remember one day this lady saw that I was eating healthy, and she said, "That's right!! Lose weight and you'll be getting guys." She is also obese. I told her quite honestly, I have never had a problem getting guys LOL, and not to sound pompous, but I thought it was a bit absurd. Being slimmer may attract more guys, and sometimes I want to stay plump for that reason But "getting guys" would never be a motivation for me to lose weight. Self absorption is a much better reason

PinkClouds thats fantastic that you already have the confidence, thats half the battle won. I am married so I dunno why I stress so much over my weight, actually i do....I am a teacher and surrounded by whippet size girls who delight in showing off their flat stomachs to the world and sundry! Found this story on the internet today, I was eating chicken yesterday and was thinking how full up i felt after a few slices, this must be why, definetly recommend high protein, she says having just eaten a high carbohydrate snack for breakfast in temper when the scales didnt say what i wanted

Whippet you are hilarious!

Thanks Potnoodle...actually the confidence makes me stress over my weight...It's like having all A+'s and getting an A-. The minus becomes an obsession.

Thanks so much for posting the article as well. Will read now
