Yah I like that idea. 2 pounds a week, 10wks it is! I use a combo of diet and exercise. I'm currently tweaking my diet as I was eating 2000 and i need to eat more around 1600 calories a day. What do you guys do, the same different? By more way of background I work at a pool 35 hours a week and try and workout every day with my very supportive fiancé. I dropped down to 130 but after a recient hospital stay have put 20 pounds back on.
I'm struggling a bit as I never thought I'd let myself gain a large amount back after working SO hard to drop from 180-130, but life throws twists at us
I'm having a hard time as all my friends aren't really supportive of me losing weight as they don't feel that I need to. I'm not sure whether this comes from me being smaller than they are or just their own personal feelings on what I'm putting my energy into. My financé feels that I don't need to lose weight, but has been pushing me hard at the gym as he knows it's what I want. This is one of the reasons why I really enjoy this site, because it is so positive! and for me it shows me that there are others out there with similar goals.

I"m glad you like hte forum. It can get addicting, lol, I"ve been here 4 yrs and even though I often say "its time to move on" I find myself back.

Currently, I'm on an 1800 cal diet and just trying my best to work in excersize here and there...recently its been my new found enjoyment of riding my bike.

I lost 30 pds at one point and NEVER thought I'd gain it back either...and I did, that PLUS 20 pds! yikes! 50 pds in 2 yrs is a crap load of weight....BUT lesson learned. I don't care how much weight you've lost or how long you've been doing it...if your not careful, the weight will come back.

Anyways, this support group (the 20 pd club) is gonna be a HUGE head start for me!!

I'll weigh in and post my weight in the morning

hahah yah I find it really addictive. I will be trying to post my workouts on here was well (so I keep myself accountable)! I used to weigh myself everyday but found that i got really driven by the numbers instead of how I was looking. I will post what I did tomorrow.

That all sounds good! I will probably lose 2 lbs a week for the first month then I always get stuck at 150, get discouraged and regain it all.. any suggestions?

You didn't say that you hit that 150 and continue to work through it, you said you get discouraged and regain....I just suggest that you KNOW your body is going to do that and expect that and keep working through it. Dont' throw in the towel...work through it

I have a plateau too, which my body normally hits BUT what I did when I first lost below 140 is when I was starting to get close to where I had set up this boundary for myself I started working out harder, and I picked up something new, whether it was adding swimming or biking, something a little different. It's good to lose the idea that you are going to regain it, and that you will stop there, but if you can't fully get rid of that idea, use it to your advantage. Change it into something positive. You know you have a challenge ahead of yourself, BUT we can all succeed in pushing past them if we decide to.
I remember when I was rowing (I rowed varsity level for 6 years in highschool). We had to do races on the rowing machines for top spots in the boats. when I was starting out I couldn't get below 8minutes for 2000m. No matter what I did I thought I'd never get below it. Then I had a competition coming up and I just decided that enough was enough and that I was going to break through this "brick wall" that I had set up in my mind. So I got extra excited for the race, trained a bit harder to give myself that extra self confidence, and I ended up getting 7:52.
We all set up boundaries, or I'd say most of us do. Just remember that you are fully capable of going below 150 if thats what you want to do AND you are more than capable to stay below 150 without gaining it back.
Plus I'll be there right with you because I think my body gets stubborn at 140.

** Oh I should say too that me encouraging you to go below 150 is me believing from what you said that you want to go below 150 and that it's healthy for you. **

Yahhhh I love new starts to things. I will be weighing in at 150. For today I plan on sticking to low fat high fiber diet, of 1600 calories. I am hoping to swim 2km today as well as go to the gym for 20min Cardio on the elliptical as well as weights. My plans are big, who knows if I will succeed on all of the exercise, but ill try!
