Buddy System

Ok ladies and (the occasional) Gentlmen....

Many members have suggested us using a buddy system. One person that you can truely be accountable to and that will help support you in your weight loss efforts.

Being a buddy means having alot of communication between you and your buddy. This means you can PM each other, call each other, instant messaging, whatever works for you both. Discuss your personal life if you want, but also diet and excersize as well as any certain areas your struggling with.

Lets have everyone that is intrested in a buddy sign up here. You must be available several days a week to respond to your buddy. I think it would be best to do it everyday, but things happen I know.

Also, this isnt' like a challenge, we arn't going to have a thread dedicated to whatever...but if you loose your buddy and want another one, let me know and I'll hook you up.

Sound good???

I'll leave this post up for a few days then assign buddies...anyone wanting a buddy after the intial sign up can post and let me know!

EDIT: Now that I've put some more thought into this...lets mention our primary goals here so that I can try to set you up w/ someone who has similar intrests

I'm definitely in for this We can all use that extra push, and especially another buddy hehe

Ok so I'm currently at 209 and eventually would like to hit 140. My goal for now is to lose 34 lbs, putting me at 175 and half way to my total goal. I don't really have a timeframe in mind right now but I may break that goal into smaller goals so I can attack two 17lb goals rather than one large one. I need all the support I can get. I work full time as a secretary so I am online all morning and afternoon Mon-Fri. I'm not on a lot at night and the weekends though.

Korrie find me a buddy I would love to have someone to support and encourage, as well as get it in return SIGN ME UP!!!

I'm currently 187lbs and I would like to be 145lbs for my wedding at the end of September. I would like to just have somebody to pep me up on my down days. And believe it or not by encouraging and supporting somebody else and seeing them succeed helps motivate me.

I'd be interested in a buddy!
I'm restarting my diet/exercise routine today after about a month of recovery from a hernia. I started in July 2005 at 185. By mid-December I was down 23 lbs. to 162. Now I'm back up to 164, back on track and hoping to lose a total of 40 lbs. (19 more) so that I'm 145 by July 2006. I'm 5'6". Sound reasonable? I'm a mom to two girls ages almost 2 and just turned 4. I love hard-core work-outs - especially Cycle/Spin Class and Kick-boxing. I'm married, 36 y.o. I have a background in teaching. Anyone feel compatible with that background?

Yea i'd totally be interested, keep us motivated. Great idea!

K well my main goal is to lose another 7 - 10 lbs by April! I'm a mother of 2 kids 10 & 8, I'm 34 years old, I work in advertising (Graphic designer) full time, I'm married, I don't belong to a gym I've always worked out at home or jogged. Hope this helps!

I'm in! That's a great idea!

I'm 29 yo, female, married, no kids. Wanting to loose about 15 lbs, no deadline, but the sooner the better. Been about 145 all my adult life, tired of all the flab and want to change. For now my big goal is 125. When I reach it I will re-evaluate if this is it or if I should be going further. I'm 5'2"

I enjoy horseback riding, skiing and biking. I have office job.

I think I need a buddy

I'm trying to lose 40lbs in 4 months, but right now, I would just be happy with consistently losing weight every week, even only 1lb/week. I am terrible for putting off my exercise to the last moment, or making excuses, and also for sneaking in a little bit of junkfood at the end of the day that I really don't have the spare calories for

Consdering that I am not home very often, and when I am, I'm usually playing World of Warcraft, I best support/am supported via text messages, though occassionally I log into messengers (I have MSN, AIM and Yahoo). Calls to my (canadian) cellphone are also good during my Nights and Weekend times, though I work a few days a week during those times too. At least at work, I can sneak a few text messages out

Edit: I forgot to say my interests and whatever I like video games (esp World of Warcraft as listed above), art and drawing, website design, and I'm a university student, so I can go on and on about that too!

I am at 161 right now was 191 My goal is somewhere between 130 to 140 depend on when I get there I have 4 kids 21 to 3 years old I am 38 ( Gosh that one snuck up on me) Love to horse back ride , hunt and fish So thats it for now

Oh, fantastic idea!

This is my 18th year, and I want to loose at least 40 pounds by July 6th. I'm home most of the time (no life :P), so being around isn't an issue for me.

This sounds like a great idea, would be very interested in having a buddie, I am 29yr old female married with 2 kids. I have a large amount of weight to lose (50kg). No set time line for this.

Okay.. i think i need a buddy to keep me motivated. I'm aiming to loose at least 10lbs by the end of Febuary. My overal goal is to be around 140lbs but that will take time.

Im trying to go to the gym at least 3 times a week for about an hour.. doing a mix of cardio and crunches. But yeah.. would definatly like a buddy.. male or female. I can keep in touch via e-mail or MSN messenger.

What a great idea NewBride!! I am always game to have a buddy. Although there are times I feel like Paula is my buddy lol! at least in wedding planning if nothing else! So I'm in! My main goal is to lose these last 30lbs. I'd like to primarily lose 20lbs by June 10th (my wedding date)!

This is informal, I'm not going to be checking in on ya. Its up to you guys to keep your buddy relationship up and running.
