Question Undereating??! HELP?!?!

Lately I haven't been eating much and have been working out and drinking a lot of water as well. I eat somewhere between 700-1,000 calories and have karate twice a week, on top of me working out for an hour 2 days a week and school is starting, and I have p.e. for 45 minutes. Can all this excersice and undereating make me gain weight?
For breakfast today, I had an apple and yogurt with a handful of almonds and dates at 9:00.
I workout out for an hour at 12:00,
Around 1:30, I had a sandwhich on whole wheat with peanut butter, bananas and mustard with a little bit of fish topped of with hot sauce.
It's 3:19 and my stomach is growling( should I eat or drink some more water?) I haven't eaten yet and probably won't eat until 5.
I calculated it all up to 730 calories. It may be less than that.
And recently, I've had intense workouts and have been shaking and feeling weak, not being able to stand, what's that about? Am I not getting enough protein? fat? I've also hit a plateu with my weight. I had been losing a pound every 2 days, but idk what's happening, this morning it read 132.2. I had aerobics class AND karate the day before, but only lost .4, HELP, please!

I'd say what that's about is that you're STARVING YOURSELF.

Good grief. Seriously now. Is this really a question you have to ask?

You're 132 lbs right? So the maintenance calories for a moderately active adult should be around 1980. If you want to lose at a healthy rate you should be eating around 1400 calories.

Eat more food. Yes, you're going to stall out your weight loss if you eat too little. But more than that, it's not going to stall anything out if you pass out and get taken to the hospital due to malnourishment.

Be healthy in your weight loss.

Hello Kalamari,

I am not an expert (the others I'm sure will have more to say then i do), but it seems to me that your body is trying to tell you that your lifestyle is no longer sustainable.

i dunno if it's the right advise but i really suggest you talk to people at your sports centre, or GP or a nutritionist (or all of them) and find a way of easing yourself into a way of living that's more healthy and easy for your body to cope with.

your body isnt going to let go of unwanted/unneeded fat if it feels it needs it to survive, by you telling it it cant get enough food.. and that it needs the energy to go running and fleeing tigers and ninjas x times a week, as well.. if it's in a comfortable, balanced environment then it will let go, but it takes time, practise, learning things from others, support (from yourself and others).. i hope this helps.

Mirasha has a little shameless behaviour in the past
It seems what you're doing is a recipe for disaster, sprains, and possibly broken bones. You're active in sports. The shaking is a signal to your body that something is wrong. Be it low blood sugar, or your body fat levels are so low your body is unable to produce the energy it needs to function.

You need to eat more, and eat healthy. Below 1,000 calories a day is really not good for you, especially if you are active in sports.

Also, consider that muscle weighs a lot more than fat. You may lose fat but GAIN weight. This is GOOD weight, and you -want- this to happen. A healthy body may actually weigh more than an unfit one.

Please take care of yourself, and eat food that will keep your body running without shaking. If the shaking persists, see a doctor and make certain you are checked for diabetes and other issues. Shaking can be a symptom of a lot of serious problems with your health.

I weighed this morning and it was 131. So, I guess it was a false alarm, but with school stating I have a schedule of morning at 6:45 a.m. and lunch at 1 p.m. and dinner at 4:30 p.m.. Today after school I weighed and it was the same as that morning, I didn't gain. So that's good,....right?

I dont think you're taking in what everyone is trying to tell you. Sure No gain is always good, but you're killing your body. and eventually it's going to strike back so even if you do lose weight, it will catch up with you and you'll gain it all back.

No.

Starving yourself is never good. You're probably losing lean muscle mass at an incredible rate. Which means when you stop starving yourself, you'll gain back more in fat ... and be worse off than you were before because you'll have even less lean muscle and more fat.

Please please please read the sticky posts on nutrition and proper eating. What you're doing is unhealthy and given that you've said you feel dizzy, faint, and can't stand up - DANGEROUS.

Kalamari,

I'm going to disagree with everyone. On your first post what you ate for breakfast & lunch, I would say is at least 900 calories. I think your estimating calories. I think you need to really count your calories.

Chip ... read her whole post. She's weak and cant stand up and dizzy. She's working out for 2 hours a day, some days 3 hours (when she has karate).

You don't get sick and dizzy and unable to stand from overeating.

KaraCooks,

Your right I should look at the whole picture. If we look at the whole picture something is being left out. One thing is a teen should be able to work out that much.

A teen girl is going to need about 1500 calories to maintain a weight of about 130 Lbs. According to her breakfast & lunch 700 - 1,000 does not add up. I would say on the day she gave her calories, it would add up to at least 1,500 calories.

We are not getting the whole picture. Maybe she is ill, who knows. Maybe she is way out of shape & she needs to work up to that much exercise.

The first answer we get on this web site (a lot of times) is you are not eating enough. Over all that is not right.

Chip

MysticRealm will become famous soon enough
Troutman>> On another part of this forum the OP talks about wanting to become a pole (as in stick thin). And that if she lost all the weight she wants to lose it will put her into the anorexic category which would make her happy. And I think people aren't seeing where she put she is generally losing one pound every 2 DAYS. That means she is losing 3.5 pounds a week. Quite a lot considering she only weighs 131
As I said in that other part of the forum this girl is either really young and needs some serious councelling or she is just on here to get a rise out of everyone.

Does anyone not beleive I can really lose that fast and I'm NOT trynna get a rise out of anyone! And if it makes y'all happy, I gained a pound over the weekend. I can only lose 1 pound in 2 days if I really work at it, it's not like it comes naturally. So, please mystic realm, please stop bashing on me

Of course you can lose that fast when starving yourself! That is my point. Either you ARE starving yourself in which case you need councelling OR you are not starving yourself and just trying to get some attention in which case we don't need that here.

Of course we believe you can lose that fast. If you do it in a dangerous and unhealthy way, it's very possible.

You've said in your own words that you eat too little (700-1000 calories) and that you're weak, dizzy, and sometimes can't stand up.

No one is going to support you in losing weight in an unhealthy way. *shrug* Don't know what else you want.
