Rep Power: 72 | | | Why not eat meat? Are you veggie? Or trying to become veggie? I'm not sure what the issue is here? |

Rep Power: 0 | | i'm not a vegetarian. its the fact that its the only thing i want. i do eat it, but its like if i eat it with a salad, i feel full for the time being but then maybe 2-3 hours later i get this overwhelming craving for meat. i wonder if it has something to do with a vitamin deficiency. |

Rep Power: 72 | | It could be your body craving something it's missing, that's true. What do you normally eat? ARe you eating enough calories?
Honestly I'd say if you can fit it into your plan for the day, then go ahead and eat what you crave. You could be craving far unhealthier things! |

Rep Power: 46 | | Agreed - there are far worse things to be craving.
I would just say to make sure that you are eating leaner meats and cooking them without adding excess fat.
Lean steak, maybe avoid the hamburger unless it is very lean, make sure the chicken is skinless and not deep-fried, that sort of thing.
I happen to think a nice lean sirloin steak and a big salad is a nearly perfect meal. |

Rep Power: 0 | | I've noticed that since I have been dieting that I crave meat more than sweets now, it's like my taste buds have changed or something, I think it's a good thing. I crave meat and fruit now, and milk and I have noticed that I really lost a taste for any kind of sea food, the other day I cooked some fish and tried to make myself eat it because fish is good for you and OMG I almost puked! I just can't eat fish and that killed my appitite for any other kind of food for the rest of the day! I just cannot tolerate fish anymore period. I barely tolerated it before but I could eat it if someone cooked it for dinner and I went to thier house for dinner or something but now I just cannot stand to eat fish, not even tuna fish. Eeeewww! Now I prefer food and meat and fruit and salad over sweets so that part I am glad about. Once your body gets used to the change in foods that you eat, you automatically crave that. I can't stand potato chips anymore either I don't like them anymore they don't taste right anymore. So that's a good thing too. |

Rep Power: 182 | | | I don't really see a reason to jump on a program bandwagon.
Simply eat as balanced as you can. You don't need to be whoofing down breads and pastas.
However, I would suggest you get a healthy dose of fibrous veggies in as well as some essential fats... even if it's only in pill form like fish oil. |

Rep Power: 85 | | I get loads of carbs from my fruit and veg - and hardly ever want or have pasta, bread or rice. If you plot your fruit and veg in FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal you will see that you can get plenty carbs.
I agree with Steve - why adopt a program if you analyse your nutrition so that it is healthy and know what you like to eat. Just because a program has a name doesnt mean that it is particularly healthy. Be confident that you can create your own healthy effective program consisting of the food that you like best.
As for the hamburgers, steak and chicken.... Hamburgers can be great - and if you make friends with a real butcher you can be sure that it is 100% pure lean meat (with no fatty cuts or cereal to bulk it out). It may be worth checking that he doesnt throw in salt for his recipe.
Skinless chicken is always a great source of protein.
Buy very lean steak.
My butcher told me that the way that fat is layered within beef means that the butcher can cut it out much more effectively than he can with pork - so you can get leaner meat.
Meat and water are great things to want - so I would have them and enjoy them.
Just because you want to lose weight does not mean that you should deprive yourself of the healthy things that you like best. Naturally portion size has to come into it - because everything boils down to calories - but protein should satisfy you with a reasonable sized portion - especially if you want to drink plenty water. |

Rep Power: 72 | | Everything Omega said .. yeah.
I don't see any need to jump into Atkins if the only thing here is that you're craving meat/protein. Just tweak your current diet accordingly and be healthy. |
