I'm Canadian too. Hmm. Wanna do a trek this month from Vancouver to I dunno... Let's say... Banff or Jasper. And as more people join up, we'll make the distance further?
So which city do you wanna go to first?
Jasper is 536km away (333 miles).
Banff is 579km away (360 miles).
And one of these we'll try to be our end destination by mid-June.
Sounds Great I like both. I've been to Banff beautiful tryly beautiful. When you don't get to see those beautiful mountains in your own backyard you surely do find them amazing. So if you don't mind either way then lets start with Banff.

Start counting today!

Eliptical - 1 mile (1.61 km)
Bike - 2 miles (3.22 km)
Walking - 1 km
That's 5.83 km. That's 566.17 km left. (Sorry about the mile thing but the eliptical machine and the bike only read in miles. >_< )
And I'd have done more but I've been awfully sore this past week with back pain. Gah. I dunno if I slept badly or my bed is crappy or what... but ow. It's only slightly better today. I'm too young to have back pain. ;_____;
BTW, where's all the other members in this club? Did they all quit already? o___o?

I hope more people join in. Wow you really should give yourself a pat on the back...well maybe not right now becaue your back is sore, but you really travelled far.
Excellent!
But this is going to take us forever if we are the only two walking.
of course you can join Troutman.
wow. you run ALOT! way to go!!
well, we're counting in kilometers right now but you can post in miles if you want too. we can convert it. either way.
so that makes our running total to 543.29 km left to go
And just so we all know where we're going...
Here's some general info on Banff...
Banff at a Glance The world famous resort town of Banff is located in the centre of Banff National Park, flanked on all sides by Alberta's Rocky Mountains. Countless visitors travel to the town each year, lured by the cozy resorts, unparalleled recreational opportunities and some of Canada's finest shopping and dining. Sunshine Village Ski Resort and Norquay are home to deep powder, deluxe mountain lodgings and some of the world's largest ski and snowboard events. The national park itself offers opportunities for mountain camping, hiking excursions and wildlife viewing. Banff has also built a reputation as a popular weekend retreat destination during the warm summer months. With renowned restaurants, decadent spas, eclectic boutiques and bustling nightclubs offering something for any taste, Banff has insured that guests will continue to visit the town year round. Banff is 144 km (90 mi) from Calgary and just a short trip to the mountain areas of Lake Louise, Kananaskis Country and Canmore.
There's kayaking for the adventurous. There's fishing, site seeing, golfing. And lots of tours from boat tours to walking tours to bike tours. And if there's anyone here who are more into the arts... If we get there before September, there's a comic exhibition of Canadian comics & magazines from now til September. As well as an art collection focusing on the Rocky Mountains.
So we better pick up the pace guys if we wanna get there soon.
OH! And here are some photos of beautiful Banff!

I just joined and I have been working on losing weight for two weeks. I started at 245 lbs. I want to reach 145 lbs. 100 was a nice round number, no pun intended.
I was just wondering if any of you are journaling. I have found over these weeks that writing is helping me to stay focused and not get so discouraged. I keep having to look back at the first page of my journal to see when I started, because it really seems like more time should have passed!
This is the first time I have tried to lose weight in over 5 years - since before I got pregnant with my twins. I lost 20 pounds through weight training right before that. This time I knew I had to do something about the emotional roots of my over-eating. I have also incorporated daily Bible reading into my plan. I guess you could say I am taking a spiritual approach to my weight loss!
Well, I'll quit rambling. Just wondered what other people with a LOT to lose were doing. I can't really relate too much to those needing to drop a pesky 20lbs! Maybe I will have more in common with some of you.
Yes, I know that Jenn, Troutman and I all journal here at this board in the Weight loss Diary forum. I also keep blogs elsewhere for extra support... One on a regular blog site and another at 3FC. And I journal my food on my FitDay account. I'm a blog addict. ^___^;; I don't get alot of support from family or friends so I find it online with people who are trying to lose weight too.
Please stay and join our club.
We're in the middle of a club challenge. We're walking from Vancouver to Banff. With Troutman's latest entry we're only 536.49 km away. Woot!
Well, I hate to post and run but I gotta get to the gym. Toodles.

Yes I understand about not really being able to relate to those who just have a few pounds to lose not that thier plight is an less difficult we just have a longer row to hoe. That is pretty much why this particular thread got started. So welcome and feel free to walk to Banff with us.
On another note
How can I translate my aerobic workout into km's? I have a Special K step counter but I'm not totally sure how to convert steps into kms. Hmmmmmm Any advice? I heard somewhere that 5000 steps equals about 5km. Let me know.
I did 2kms yesterday and forgot to post that. So our total km's are now at 516.49kms

I walked 4 miles - appx. 6.5 km between May 19 and May 25 (excluding chasing kiddos around the house). But somebody needs to check the math. Didn't you start with 579 km???
Regarding steps to km conversion of the Special K pedometer, I tried looking that up and found this interesting website regarding the pedometer...
Also found this instruction sheet, which seems to indicate that the number of steps/km varies with the size of the stride you take, which you must manually input on the pedometer. So, to convert your steps to km, first you would need to know the number of cm in your stride, then you would need to verify that your pedometer is counting your steps accurately. You up for some more math?

oops! sorry. yeah. I messed up the kilometers and miles. SORRY! guys. I fixed up my posts. thanx for pointing that out twinmom.
jenn-I'm not sure if that's true. but it sounds right to me... i think twinmom is right. it depends on your strides. but 5000 steps is ALOT of steps.
And today, at the gym, I did...
Eliptical - 1.5 miles (2.41 km)
Stairmaster - 0.1 miles (0.16 km) - I'm a whimp I know. Lasted only 2 minutes!
Bike - 4.25 miles (6.84 km)
That's down to 518.58! Woot!
We've crossed over 60 kilometers guys!! GOOD WORK!!
And this time I'm pretty sure I'm right. heheh.
Sorry again guys! *blushes and scrambles out really embarassed*
