I am a firm believer that no matter which diet you choose to go with, if you are dedicated to loose weight (especially with exercise) you will, loose weight. Some people, perhaps like myself, use these types of diets to 'kick start' their weight loss until they can move into plain healthy eating. Others are happy to make the lifestyle change and keep with the program.
Good luck to everyone,
Flower | If you are only kick starting a diet then over half that weight loss will just be water. Thats what happens when you start. So dont feel bad if your weight suddenly increases quite a bit.

Rep Power: 0 | | | The Rice Way Hi Emily,
I found a really good website which lists all of the foods, quantities etc which you are allowed on the diet. Lookup "The Rice Way" it is a forum for people on the diet and has some really helpful people there to help you start.
Good luck.

Well I have just survived week one and lost a total of 11 pounds so I am pretty happy. It is a very easy diet to follow - didn't have any cravings and didn't do any exercising. It is a diet which you could easily stay on for a long period of time or until you neared your goal weight.
Good luck to all those choosing the Rice Diet.

Rep Power: 0 | | | Well, reading all this stuff about the rice diet made me decide to try it. I'm hoping it will kick start me in my weight loss mission. I started the diet yesterday and lost 2.5 pounds!! WHOO HOO! So far so good. This diet is rather boring but hopefully I can stick it out. Good luck to all trying it.

Rep Power: 0 | | | Rice Diet Is Wonderful I do love the Rice Diet. It's the only diet I've tried that is very encouraging early on during a diet. I know you all will have great success with it. Best of luck.

Rep Power: 0 | | | Hi Emily. First time on the rice diet was in 1986. That was with the old rice diet using Judy Moscovitz's book, which I still have and use. I don't know how much I've lost and regained over the years. Plenty...that's for sure. I still use the old rice diet because I lose 6-7 lbs per week when on it, not counting the first two weeks. The first two weeks tend to be mostly water, and I usually lose 20-24 lbs during those weeks.

Rep Power: 0 | | | This should help you Emily:
1 Starch = 1/3 cup rice or beans, or 1/2 cup of all other cooked grains or pasta, or 1 slice of bread, or 1/4 cup to 1 cup of cereal.
1 Dairy = 1 cup of nonfat soy milk, nonfat cow's milk or fat-free yogurt.
1 Vegetable - 1 cup of raw, or 1/2 cup of cooked vegetables.
1 Fruit = 1 medium piece of fruit or 1 cup of cut fruit
1 Protein = 1 oz fish or skinless poultry,* or 1 egg or 3 egg whites
