Red face Embaressing Question....

Being an english girl im not used to hot weather... seeing as it rains here quite a lot. hehe However over the last few days it has been really hot... so hot that just sitting at my computer here im sweating. (us english don't have air conditioning!)

Anyways... I've been moving around quite a bit and well... because im sweating so much my legs have been rubbing together at the top quite a bit. Ive got really bad sores there now.. so bad that its actually painful to walk.

So my question is... am i the only one? Also... how do you stop this from happening in the heat? Its the first time ive had it and it really hurts!

Chafing can be really painful... what you want to do is keep your thighs as dry as possible, powder often helps (but - keep the powder away from your - ahem - girlie bits becuase that can cause other problems...)

You also might want to try shorts to prevent your thighs from rubbing against each other.

When it's hot and muggy as well, you want to make sure you wear cotton undies.. to absorb as much sweat as possible.

This is a problem I had, in fact they led to my disability.

Mine were called Carbuncles commonly confused for 'sweat pimples'.

A sweat pimple will enlarge in true pimple fashion and create a white head.

Carbuncles develop in the same manner only a blood sack will form instead of a white head - DO NOT OPEN OR POP THESE YOURSELF !!

A Carbuncle is a staph infection looking for any break in the skin and exploit that area, work its way to the baseof a hair follicle and fester. Heat and sweat fuel this condition. They commonly thrive in areas of fat folds and groin areas where it is always sweaty however people do get them in armpits and on their backs also and thin people can get them too but obese people are much more prone.

These cause living hell for diabetics due to our low resistance for fighting infection. Mine would accelerate to grapefruit-size in less than 48 hours.

I've had 7 surgeries for mine and I don't mean ER stuff, I'm talking full-blown under-the-knife 4 to 6 day hospital stays here.

I don't mean to scare you, but you really need to have those looked at especially if they are filling up with dark red or purplish centers.

No, you are not the only one. I use baby powder and wear boxers so that the seams on my jeans don't rub me raw. I hear corn starch works too.

The term u're looking for is usually called "chub rub".

I go to a fat fashion forum. And the girls swear by two items. One is called Monistat and the other is called Body Glide. You can pick up both usually at any runner's place. Here's Monistat's website to get a free sample (US only). Oh. And... Search here for where to buy Body Glide (North American). You can check amazon for both. I do believe I've seen them being sold online too. As well as on ebay. Ask your local pharmacist and running store for products similar to these.

I have Body Glide and it's not bad. It lasts pretty good. I use it not for running but for when I want to wear a skirt or a dress. It lasts me all day. It can be a bit pricey though. About $20 for the size of a deodorant. If you can't afford it, you can use regular deodorant or baby powder but those options usually do not last as long. Hope that helps!

I have had this problem also, even when it isn't hot, and my solution is just to never have bare tops of my legs, unless I am just mooching around the house. I don't get the problem with seams as I don't wear jeans. When around the house I wear M&S long johns which are sooooo lovely and soft and really comfy to slob about in

I use Ammens medicated powder. I have also used Dr. Scholl's medicated foot powder.
I find these powders absorb a lot of moisture and the medications prevent infected follicles.
And I wear cotton knit slacks around the house. They are loose fitting & prevent the thighs from touching each other.
(Another reason to lose a lot of weight.)

jeez~ mine used to rub together on the tredmil until they'd bleed~
well, they don't bleed anymore~ but I lost 100 pounds and they still rub together!! Dx

wear pants that are tight in the inner-upper thigh area~ it helped for me~
or I'd wear those tight biker shorts~

ouch..... Selfishly its nice to know that im not the only one... thought there was something seriously wrong with me. Both my mum and sister are 'normal' sized so couldn't understand what i was talking about. It's nice to hear that when i loose weight it will stop... which actually thinking about it makes sense... coz when i was thinner i never had it.

Thanks for your help guys... Much appreciated.

I have had this happen many a time. It is NO fun!!!

I had a friend tell me to put baby rash diaper ointment on it at night and that would help. Desitan, Balmex...there are others. She said it heals it overnight. If it happens to me again, I am going to try it since I have it around the house for my baby. It might be worth the couple bucks to give it a try! I wish I had heard about it earlier!

I'm using Suda-cream... its for babies and their nappy rash. hehe

It heals it over night... which is great! I don't share my bed with anyone so don't have to worry about embaressment.
