Exclamation Greetings All! Scale Question!

Greetings one and all, I'm New here.

Currently Last year I was 400 Pounds, now I am around 276-280

Its a big change =) but Weight loss has gotten harder since my recent size change, Im progressing fine, but when ti comes to weighing myself, I can't really tell what scale to believe, I have a doctors scale in my school's weight room, and it gave me a reading of 276 I also tested the scales accuracy (ack spelling ><) by putting a 20 pound weight on it, and it roughly gave a accurate reading (around 20.5 or so)

But I weigh myself with my electronic scale at home and it says im 280 = /

Despite this weight thing isn't freaking me out, I just want an accurate weight reading!

So I'm asking you peoples =) What is more accurate a Doctors Scale or an electronic one?

Thanks to all who could help!

~Teh Newt

Well....

If ANYONE saw my diet, they would freak .

My Diet Consisted of complete $**T

Pizza Bites Hot pockets chips horrible!!!

The thing that kicked me in the ars is one night I was cleaning my room, and it hurt to breathe.... and from then on I said "O_O I Ain't Dying!"

So .... I started doing a bunch of new stuff such as

Having 1 bowl of cereal and no suger crap, Special K - Life - (hate raisen Bran )

Lunch would usually be a sandwich on a roll, but even now I've cut back on rolls ..(way to much carbs/Cal)
I've converted to wraps =P

For Dinner, its usually have something random, my father cooks, but since he's finally going with me (he went from 330 to 300 currently) He would commonly make Rice, and a meat of somesort, and eating early is actually vital

you don't want to eat at 8:00 at night, the food just sits there = /

For Snacks, Chewy Granola Bars! 90 Calories, not alot of suger, or anything, and there very good =)

Also, I USED to drink soda (diet) but I recently cut back on that to, (on rare times I have some, BBQ's Parties Etc.) Instead Ive become addicted to cool-aid (suger free, the noraml coolaid isn't so good = /)

I know its jumbled and in accurrate, but that was what my diet WAS to what my diet IS

As for Exercise ....

I do football, but its only for about 5 months, this year is my last season =)

As for off-season,

Running about a mile (or whatever brings you to your limit, nearly 2 miles and I'm tired for a bit.)

If you don't have one get an xbox or ps2 ..because...one BIG help that upped my stamina is...

Dance Dance Revolution this game has done wonders, it works you out, while listening to some cool music, they got a song for everyone on that game, from rock to hiphop.

So to sum it up

Eating Healthy
Exercises Daily (Even if its just a walk)
Don't get downed about gained weight =) It will go away if you TRY hard enough!

And to your older peoples... ><...Im 17 so it is a TAD easier for me to lose weight so you gotta push yourselves harder like meh pops =P

Ok Im done... sorry ><!!

Good for you!
I am so impressed. I like your attitude and it's cool that you and your pops are working together on this!

Hey, when you weighed yourself at school what time of day was it?
When you weighed yourself at home what time of day was it?
Sometimes the time of day can make the difference of several pounds. Sometimes like 5 or 6!
I always weigh myself in the morning for the most accurate, (and lowest ) reading..
Good luck!
Thanks for joining us!
There are a couple of other young guys on this forum... seek them out, they have done really well and could be a great support to you!

It doesn't really matter which scale is more accurate, just that you weight yourself on the same scale/same time of day. That's where you want to check for consitancy. But if you want to check your scale at home just get a weighed item, like a 5lb bag of sugar. That will work. Congrats on your weight loss!!!!

Congrats on the weight loss warrior. You've come along way, keep it up!

A digital scale won't be as accurate as a doctor type scale. I bought the most expensive digital scale they had at the store, and in the manual it had a 'margin of error' +/- "x%", I don't remember for sure but I think it was +/- 2%. So at 100lbs 2% is only 2 lbs, but 200 would be 4 and so on. And I think mine has been reading roughly 5 lbs high.

Just got back from a BBQ =P I feel Fat XD Rofl

Thanks for the opinions and words of wisdom =)

I do weight myself in the morning, most of the time, weight bounces around each time of the day, (I Experiment with different scales to test accuracy)

But yes most accurate weight comes in the morning when I wake up bright and early.

I agree with everyone else...go with the scale with the lowest reading! LOL

Seriously though. Pick one time of the day to weigh yourself. I do it right as I get up in the morning. Weight changes throughout the day, so you could weigh 280 in the morning and 285 at night...that's just the way things go.
