Confused

Details
Male
Age: 19
Height: 6'4/195cm
Weight: 102kg/225 pounds
BMI: 27.5

Ok so obviously i want to lose weight and get in better shape but im pretty confused on what EXACTLY i should be doing.

First off i don't really have any "specific" goal or target, i just simply want to get rid of all my fat and tank up all over.

I already have a fair bit of muscle coverage around my body which is obviously heavily covered by fat but i don't want to lose any of that muscle.

Thing is i went and got a gym membership about 2 weeks ago and i got a free personal training session so i could get a workout plan done, i told the person i wanted to drop all my fat and she gave me a workout plan that involved doing stretches (for my back which is really bad) and doing weights, bar one 30 minute cardio session.

My question is how am i doing to lose any weight when im hardly doing any cardio, and having to make sure i eat enough meat (fat+protein) so that all the weight training doesn't go to waste???

I want to reach my target by the end of January, starting at the end of this month so that gives me 4 months to get the job done.

Also i need help changing what i eat as even though i rarely/never snack or eat any snack crap and only eat 3 main meals a day, what i eat isn't that flash and i NEVER eat any fruits or vegetables (my parents NEVER made me eat any growing up, at all, and now that im 19 i never developed a taste for them and they all taste horrible to me) so i need help sorting all that out, but i'll make a different thread for that soon.

Sorry for this being really long lol

DT

Hi!
Did she say this was a long term plan? How much weight are you looking to lose? I think maybe she is setting up a program thats going to help you regain the strength in your back while you lose weight. Then you can add more cardio? Did she say anything like that?

Muscle burns a lot of calories so don't worry about losing weight. You can lose weight from weight training and you need some fat and protein no matter how you decide to exercise.

I can't imagine though that after you are well adjusted to the weight program that you couldn't add in a nightly brisk walk if you thought you could handle it. Just be careful with that back and don't push it.

That's the biggest problem, i don't really have a target weight, because im also looking to bulk up and muscle ways more then fat so i have no target weight.

I already walk a lot, at minimum 30-45 minutes a day, i don't do that to lose weight i do that because it helps with my back, its relaxing etc.

I'm just really worried that if i do what she says all that will happen is that i'll bulk up a bit, won't drop any fat and still be overweight by the end of January, when i'll be doing back to school and working and won't have hardly anytime to seriously workout.

Did the trainer they put you with specialize in anything specific? At the gym that I work for they have trainers that specialize in specific areas, such as building muscle, weight loss and toning and so on.

Good luck reaching your goal and welcome to the boards!

Wellllllllllllllllllllll, you'll be just fine.
You are already doing great cardio and if you are eating properly you will definately lose weight and NOT bulk up. Its a bad myth that women can bulk up, muscle is more compact then fat so you will be replacing fat with muscle which is slimmer and burns more calories, its a very win win situation.

The only way you could possibly bulk up is to eat lots of unhealthy high fat or a massive amount of calories OR the combination of the two. Then you'd most likely be adding fat and muscle. but remember your body needs the diet she has given you to be able to maintain the muscle and build new muscle.

Don't worry! Weight training will make you look sleeker and the best part is with weight training you look just as good in your clothes as out. It replaces things like cellulite, lumps and bumps.

Follow the plan you'll be SHOCKED with what a few months of weight training can do for you! I'm betting you right now you will be extremely pleased.

Give it just two months and you will most likely find you are down a couple dress sizes..........Go by SIZE not weight. You will be replacing fat with muscle so the scale could be decieving you. K?

And sweetie you ARE seriously working out. Get that outta your head right now. A weight training regime is actually very taxing and as much walking as your doing with another cardio. Trust me you are going to do FINE.

LOL sorry!

Well then you will easily replace muscle with fat. Have you ever seen a guy who takes care of himself but has no desire to look like Arnold did back in the day? Yeah you'll look like that. I think its called Svelte. Even men have to push it really hard to bulk up on muscle. Besides that all of it still applies to you male or female..............even the dress size if you so chose.
