Rep Power: 0 | | | Gaining Weight while taking Ephedra?!?! Hey, I've been taking metabothin w/ ephedra ( I know it's bad for me) to loose a few pounds. I've been taking 2 - 4 pills a day; I've read a study that up to 90 mg a day was the max for not getting and negative side effects. Well I've been taking them for about a week and I've lost 9 lbs by the 5th day but recently I've been gaining weight back, and I'm still taking these. I only do 40 min of cardio 2 to 3 days a week, so it can't be all muscle and I have been watching what I eat. The pills help lower my appetite a little.
Has anyone else GAINED weight while on this stuff? I've read really great reviews on metabothin. Can anyone tell me why I'm gaining weight?
on and PS I have lost an inch off of my waist line while taking these ; even though I'm gaining weight I haven't gained any inches on my waist ..... why is that? |

Rep Power: 31 | | The initial weight that people lose when first starting a diet is water weight---it's easy to lose that. The 9 pounds you've lost so far is probably only water weight--something you would have lost without taking a drug.
Here's my question though: Why subject yourself to a drug with harmful side effects when you could just lose the weight through proper diet and exercise?
My advice is to leave the drugs alone and just buckle down and lose the weight the 'slow' but more permanent way. Quote:
There is strong evidence that ephedra is associated with an increased risk of side effects, possibly even fatal ones. There is no evidence that ephedra products enhance athletic performance. There is little evidence of any benefit except for short-term weight loss. Taken together, the FDA recommends that consumers immediately stop using dietary supplements containing ephedra or ephedrine alkaloids.
While respecting the traditional uses of herbal medicines, their long history of use, and their potential health benefits, NCCAM believes that ephedra poses unique public health risks that warrant the FDA's actions to prohibit the sale of ephedra-containing dietary supplements.
Consumers need to be informed of the potential risks and benefits of herbal products.

Well, if it was water weight wouldn't the continued use of the drug keep the water weight off?
I'm just wondering has anyone ever gained weight while on ephedra? I was 200 lbs when I started taking them last Saturday later on in the week on thrusday I was 191 lbs and now today I'm 196 lbs. |

Rep Power: 31 | | I have no idea how ephedra works on a persons body. I suppose you should have kept the water weight off but I really have no idea how that drugs works.
Seriously though, all the research shows that ephedra is not effective at long term weight-loss---why bother with it? It's obviously not working for you and it has some nasty side effects--I'd stop taking it and start trying to lose weight using the good ol' diet and exercise routine. |

Rep Power: 0 | | I used metabolife 356 when they were out and i did not use recommended dosage i used 1/2 the amount. I liked it because it gave me energy and helped curve my sweet tooth.i wish they still made them. I have tried lipodrene and same thing i lost a few pounds nothing significant/probably just water. then i gained twice the weight back some how. I like any supplement that can give me a little energy, but it is not going to take the weight off only diet and lots of working out.... |

Rep Power: 0 | | I really doubt you can gain weight on Ephedrine unless you ignore the fact that you're not hungry and binge. I have a supply of it that I bought online after the stopped selling it in stores and I used to swear by it. Right now I'm trying to lose weight the healthy way and stop starving myself, but if you take one or two a day to get rid of tremendous food cravings and give you energy to work out, it can be effective. I wouldn't stay on it for long, though. You will need to exercise and eat well to keep the weight off. |

Rep Power: 35 | | | Do you plan to take ephedra the rest of your life?
These "magic pills" do nothing but set people up for failure. Even if you ignore the side effects, which for ephedra can be very real and very dangerous, what happens when you stop taking it? You haven't learned a thing, except how to pop a pill. And when you stop, the weight goes right back on, and then some.
Spend some time reading through the posts in this forum. Learn how to lose weight the healthy way. Make changes that you can do the rest of your life. You can do it. And you will get lots of support and knowledge from the people here. |

Rep Power: 0 | | You're a speed addict. Pretty simple. You weigh like 190lbs right? I weigh 215 and I would never dream of taking some worthless pill. I won't even take aspirin unless its absolutely necessary, since I hate taking un-natural products.. regardless. Flush the pills, go to the gym. Cut out some sweets and hit the eliptical. Make it a regular thing and you won't have to worry about it.. or keep on taking the speed and your heart will explode. By the by, I hear you can lose massive pounds by doing coke, its not cheap but you should give it a go. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
