gosh, guys..I used to crave food all the time but now I can't seem to eat enough everyday Calorie wise. Food does still however run my life and I think about what I'm eatting. I take a Vitamen B pill every morning and I plan my food for the day that morning or the night before, depending on what I work, I just eat when I'm hugery..and it's not that often anymore.

I'm like that too ><

What's seemed to help me so far is not really planning what I'm going to eat in the day, just watching calorie intake. That way, the thing I'm going to eat next isn't looming so closely in my mind... Then again, I've only been doing that for a day, so some more experienced members would probably be a better help!

Lol, Tabi-mami, I know where you're coming from.
Some days I don't crave food that much, but others I'm dying for it.
And if I give in to my cravings, I feel so guilty. If I don't, I feel like I'm starving.
truth be told, I don't really feel that I'm making much progress unless I feel hungry often. Alot of people say that when you're hungry, have water. It doesn't help much with me. i have the water, I feel a little more full, but I still crave for food.

Hello, I must say that I feel for you guys. I know sometimes I give in to the urge to snack, and I always feel ashamed afterwards. There are several tricks I use to avoid this although they all take some sort of willpower on your part. First, place all the items that you binge on, chocolate is my weakness, and place it in the highest place imaginable. If you have to think about climbing up there to get it you're more likely to stop yourself. Also, when you're hungry drink a glass of water first. This actually does wonders if you can get into the habit; not only are you getting all your water for the day but you're also cutting down on how much you eat because most of the time your body is craving water. The third thing is if you get hungry go excerisize. This is probably the hardest one to get into the habit of because it does require will power. But about 90% of the time if I go out and excersize then I'm not hungry anymore, so it's easier. Also, try to avoid using food as an award, and remember that you can occasionally have things you like just try not to binge binge. It's okay to indulge, but stick to a pretty decent schedule. Anyway, I must say now that the only thing I have trouble with is restraunt food which is evil. Even regualar restraunt food, not fast food, it hard to stop eating, and I'd appreciate it if someone could give me some advice on that.

Stop fighting the food crave

Hey.

I know just how you feel and it really is a curse to feel so addicted to food and how impossible it seems to let it go. I bet that you feel that the more you struggle, the more you fail and the more your selfconfidence drop and the more you eat...

You need to stop fighting the craving by not allowing yourself food. If you fight, it will work like a spiders web, and just get you more entangled. Instead you should try a 3 step plan which is build for replacing the bad foods with good ones, normalize your eating habits, and help you avoid situations were you are likely to sin.

I am currently working on an article about this, but i havn't completed it yet, but basically the steps are.:

Make lots of healthy snacks like apple boats, orange slices, melon slices, fresh carrots, non processed nuts and plenty of water.

Pinpoint the 3 worst times each day (when you are the most hungry) and then do 15 - 30 mins of workout 30 mins before that time occours. (if it isent possible, then stick with the snacks, eat some and drink some water before you get etremely hungry.

Never go shopping, are near any shops at all if you are hungry.. I.e. eat 1 bowl of cereal with appleboats before you go shopping.

Well i hope you can use this little advice!

Sincerly
Henrik Jonsson

If you're going to snack, tell yourself you can, but only in front of a mirror while watching yourself. This saved me a couple of times from eating when I knew I shouldn't.

Just the thought of having to watch myself eat food I didn't need made me stop.

Also, filling up on water works. Another trick is to pinch your nose shut if you're snacking. You can't taste anything at all and the satisfaction is just gone. You can't even taste pure cinnamon with your nose pinched shut, it's just a gritty powder.

I think what worked for me was realizing that I was in control of every piece of food that I put in my mouth. You are not helpless when it comes to controlling what you do and don't eat. I still give in to temptation, but I don't over indulge the way that I used to. Sometimes now, it's just getting a bite or two of the cheesecake instead of eating the whole thing (I've done it before!)

Actually, I started taking control of all aspects of my life and it has had such a profound change on everything. I've lost a lot of weight, gotten out of a bad relationship, found a new, really good relationship, gotten a new, better paying job, and have become a very outgoing person where I used to be very introverted and uncomfortable around "strangers."

So, for me, it was a realization, I'm in control. I can put this (fill in the blank) down. Sometimes I'll feel hunger pains and know that I just ate a little while ago and just accept the fact that my tummy growls. I know I'm not starving. It is a lifestyle change, a complete new way of thinking and it is something that you just have to accept. I don't beat myself up if I eat something sweet. I just take a couple of bites, or whatever. Life is a funny thing, I have been overweight since I was a child, tried every diet that has ever been on the market (and failed miserably every time) and then one day it was like a light switch went off in my head and everything has just fallen into place. I didn't follow any fad diets or weird food combos. I just paid attention to what and how much I was eating and so far, have maintained.

The food craving is the hardest part. It's mostly in the mind. Eat something small ; maybe a protein bar that's 200 calories when your hungry.

Ok, this is what I do, it's a bit weird though...Do you remember the "after thanksgiving" feeling, when you eat so much your stomach kinda hurts? Well, if you notice, when you are craving something, your stomach sort of feels the same way, as if you've eaten too much. I guess Im easily psyched out, because usually I can tell myself "Urg, I ate too much, I feel over-full"..and that will get me past the worst of the craving. ~shrugs~ The other thing I do is keep good snack foods around, like veggie and brown rice sushi, veggies, lean protein, etc. And I discovered frozen yogurt: the sugar fix that really is as good as ice cream, I dont notice the difference, truely.
