Did anybody grill anything wonderful on the 4th? We were at another person's house an I didn't feel like doing much, so I just ate potato salad and the like. When I grill at my own house, I go all out though!
I was camping =D so i didnt really get to cook that much, just threw a veggie patty on the fire it was all good lol

Do you make your own veggie patties or do you buy them? When I was a kid, we made our own for camping trips since you couldn't get them in the store. Now there are SO many different kinds! I've had some pretty bad ones though. The first Boca burgers were horrible, but they've improved the recipe a lot.

Depends. I was with my dads family so i bought them, If i was with my mom or sisters we'd make them they are wonderful.

I use to HATE the boca now i like them =p just the boca grillers or chicken patties but the spicy chick is too much

I also decided on going vegan this week.
since my sisters are my mom is trying but she has an addiction to food lol

Welcome Sami! I'm also a member of the dog walking club here. We seem to be losing members lately so I'd love it if you joined me!

http://weight-loss.fitness.com/club/...kers-club.html

We have group challenges to walk distances between cities. It's been motivating to have to report how far I walk my pooch. I used to think I walked her a lot - but it turns out I frequently skipped the planned walks. But I'm on track now!

I'm afraid we don't do more than 4-6 miles a week (lately, we haven't even had time for that!). A rather small amount in the grand scheme I've peeked in...I might stop by soon. Thanks for the invite!

Sami

Way to go windmill! I just don't think I could ever give up eggs...especially because I have 20 chickens and I would have no idea what to do with all the eggs if I didn't eat them!

Are you taking any B-12 supplements? I tried raw veganism for a month due to digestion issues (turned out to be gall stones) and I took one then after doing quite a bit of research on vegans and B-12. I do know vegans that don't bother with it, but it seemed like a good idea to me.

Hey guys, also new here. I am not a real vegetarian, but I hardly eat any meat and I adore vegetables. I hope this qualifies me for this club.

I am from Europe and must say that eating healthy vegetarian food is quite expensive here. So I am thinking of growing my own small garden of vegetables Any ideas of what to grow to get out maximum?

Every time I've traveled in Europe, it has been really hard for me to find vegetarian food. England seems to have it figured out, but Germany and Austria were the worst for me!

For a vegetable garden, it depends on what you are looking for. The most calorie dense crop you can grow is potatoes. That means that an acre of potatoes would feed more people than an acre of any other food. But potatoes are boring! The least calorie dense crop is squash, but I grow far more squash than potatoes. You can grow varieties of squash that are simply not available in the grocery because they don't store well.

Ok, so my recommendations for a first time gardener are almost always squash, tomatoes and peppers. They are all easy to grow (if you have the right weather - I think Slovenia would be warm enough) and they are so much better than store varieties. Plus, one or two plants of each of those will likely provide all the squash, tomatoes and peppers you can possibly eat by yourself!

I am trying to grow all of the vegetables for my family. I am currently growing turnips, corn, okra, peanuts, tomatillos, peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, summer squash, winter squash, black eyed peas, green beans, watermelon, sweet potatoes, muskmelons and spinach (I think I got them all!). Our potato crop failed this year and that was a real drag. We've also had to buy onions and most of the lettuce we've been eating. But we probably grow about 50% of the vegetables for the family now. It's fun!

Thanks for this info. I was thinking of growing tomatoes and pepper too. I can never eat enough of them I will probably add eggplant and some sort of squash, maybe beans. I am not very fond of potatoes so I will skip these.
It is a little late for the most of these vegetables now, but I believe I can make it work somehow.
