Water Diet

Hey there,

Can anybody please give me some information (or a link) about a water diet...

I saw it on a show called "The bigest loser", where one of them drunk heaps of water, and mentioned increasing salt intake. If this is correct (or if there is something similar) please give me a heads up with some information about it.

Thank you VERY much!

STEVEN

That doesn't seem right...drinking a ton of water and increasing your salt would only make you retain water, if I'm thinking right.

I'm not too keen, but I'm pretty sure that's what I heard.

EazyE is an unknown quantity at this point
Water can kill you if you drink like 3 gallons in a few minutes.
Water doesnt contain salt so it cant retain weight.

Google isn't helping much - it's brought up a link to something called Penta water which is just a filtered water - I've never sat thru an episode of the biggest loser - but from what i can tell - they do try to have the contestents have a healthy diet - a healthy diet wouldn't be just water with salt in it..

This does sound strange. I would suggest that you aim for around 8-10 glasses of water a day. When we don't drink enough water, it is very easy to become dehydrated. We often confuse feelings of dehydration with hunger. Try drinking 8 glasses of water a day. You should begin to notice a decrease in hunger levels. It's great for your skin too.

They were probably saying that if you drink a lot of water it will cause your body to deplete things like your sodium level and thats why they recommend upping your sodium intake. I do that when I reach my 2 gallon intake and I don't have problems with retention unless I only intake less than a gallon.

Not too sure about this one...

Water does help to keep the water weight down and flushes imputities from your system, but drinking too much will cause cramps, mainly in legs, the salt will help you from getting cramps which is why they were increasing salt intake with the water. Sports drinks also contain salt for similar reasons. I hope this helps.

Water Diet

When you start drinking enough water regularly, there are great benefits. You may notice your skin significantly improve and even tired muscles will thank you.

I will give you a simple to follow program when you decide to lose weight based on a "water diet":
When you wake up you will often be thirsty because your body loses water while you are sleeping through breathing and perspiration. Drink one or two large glasses of water. That will be a great start.
Drink another glass of water with breakfast or a cup of herbal tea before setting off the day.

Have a glass of water or two before lunch. You can add some fruit or a vegetable.

Lunch - think of soup or have a glass of water before your meal, or perhaps a herbal tea.

Afternoon - While you are preparing your evening meal, drink a glass of water and snack on some crunchy fresh vegetables.

Evening - Sip a glass of water before your meal with a dash of your favourite fruit juice for flavor.

After dinner - before bed time drink your final glass of water and sleep well!

If you are doing this regularly, automatically you can find to lose weight and you can improve your metabolism.

Water diet is often confused with other things, like water fasting or lemon diet.

In fact, water diet is rather simple thing to follow – just as simple as going to exercise regularly, to eat less, to cut the junk – you name it.. :-)

I did some research on this topic and put together a page about water diet.

Be well,
Meir
