Question New and Questions

Hi to all.

I have just started exploring Dr Cohen's program and have a few questions.
My main query/worry is the price. I think I read somewhere on here that someone had just bought 3 months for $600!!! That scares the hell out of me because I would like to get rid of about 80kg (or so) and that would take a fair while. So how much would the program cost me? I did read someone's diary online here and they have lost 80kg and my stomach flips at the thought that that could be me. But there was no talk of costs. I cant seem to find any information on the costs of it all. I live in Rockhampton, Queensland, and I think a clinic has just opened up here recently.

Oh and is the program covered under health insurance or medicare card thingy?

I started Tony Ferguson 2 weeks ago and going pretty good but I am scared that I will have to be on the shakes FOREVER to maintain my goal or whatever and I am looking for a more permanent solution.

Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Regards
Tangy

Hi Tangy!!! Welcome to the Forum! Goodonya for exploring your options and looking into Cohens. This forum is full on helpful information. Take the time to explore and investigate others diaries and threads... you will find lots of useful info and tips.

In regards to price... I am in WA...but I am pretty sure its the same all over. It is $680 whether that is for a 3 month or 6 month contract. I also have a significant amount to lose... about 50kg (not as much as 80 but still daunting as I am sure it is for everybody...whatever their goal is!). I was concerned that I would not be able to get it completed within the 6 month period "prescribed" and so I asked my consultant about this and he said that as long as I was sticking to the program and getting my regular blood tests then they would continue to support me, even if it went longer than the 6 months. He said that they had had a woman who had over 80 to lose and they stuck with her till she was done. Another woman who comes on this forum often is Asy who has lost over 85kgs and has just started her refeed. Her diary is at www.Newyouforum.com in the personal diaries section. She said the other day that it has taken her just short of a year to lose the weight.

In regards to Health insurance. I know that some insurance agencies do cover it... like Medibank Private and others??? I think... but I asked HBF over here in WA and they dont cover it! was a bit bummed!

The wonderful thing about this program is that it really does TEACH you how to eat correctly and after a few days you are no longer hungry or physically craving things. I have been on the program officially for 3 weeks now and loving it. The structure is great and very specific. I have tried other things but felt that they never really taught me long term skills.

I know what you mean about your stomach doing a little Flip about the idea of losing all that weight! Every time I look at some one thin... and think that could be me.. I feel all weird... well 5 months to go and we'll see how I go.

Tangy... RUN...don't walk... to your closest clinic and if it is too far get online and do it via email (Like I do!)..IT WILL BE YOUR BEST DECISION YET!! hehehe
Welcome!
Bless ya
Kath

Lukey is on a distinguished road
Hi Tangy,

I am a newbie here. I am currently on my second week of the program.

It cost me $680. From memory this is for 6 mths, but if you have been good and stick to your program and are having good and steady weightloss they will continue to support you...depending how long, I think you can come to an agreement with your own Cohen's clinic.

I need to lose about 55-60kg and that is so scary to actually think about it. One kilo at a time is the way I look at it. My goal is to see how I feel come Xmas time as I feel my 'actual' goal weight is too thin for me, but I guess I will see how I feel when I am getting close.

Personally I am so glad I heard about Cohen's, I honestly believe this is the last time in my life I am going to be fat.

Lukey

Hi Tangy,

It will be money worth spent, looking and feeling so good has no price.
I recommend Cohens because I love that the weight is just falling off, I love the way I feel physically, I love the way my body shape has changed and have lost fat from places I never thought possible, I love looking in the mirror and I love ME again.
