Still going

Great to see everyones contributions.... I am on day 6 of Cohens and I will weigh tomorrow. Things I like are the limited choices, I did weight watchers and would eat 20 points by lunchtime leaving nothing for tea... I also like the idea of fast weight loss... I am finding difficult the necessity of being organised with meals, the cravings (still having them) and the discipline needed on the programme.

I will post a ticker when I work it all out... I have cut and pasted the bb in my signature and it says "invalid file" and that is all, no idea where I am going wrong.

OK, will post my hopeful weight loss tomorrow.

Hi nomoreweighting,
If you're having trouble with cravings, try taking a Chromium supplement it can help to keep them at bay, and make sure you aren't deviating unwittingly some way as this can also cause cravings.
With the BB code, you need to copy and paste, not cut and paste. Don't know if that will help but you can give it a try.
Great that you are still sticking with it and I'm looking forward to seeing how much weight you've lost when you weigh tomorrow. I'm a compulsive weigher and I weigh myself every morning (I can't help it). I find it helps to keep me motivated, but most people find it discourages them.
Anyway. It was nice hearing from you.
Take care
Beck

Weigh in

Hi all,
Today I weighed 5.5kg less than I did last Sunday!! This diet definately works. I know that we are not meant to eat out, but on the occassions where there is little choice I will try and do like Beck and order steak and salad. I am already anxious about these occassions.

Thanks for your advice Beck, I will try to do another tracker today and paste it into my signature. The supplement I take does have chromium, maybe I just like to eat too much!

Take care all, and keep of Cohening!!

Hi everyone

I am a Cohens drop out from about a year ago. I am just wanting to know if anyone here has been in the same boat and as for restarting, did you use your old programs or pay for a new one? I don't exactly have money to buy one but wondering if the old one will work. I am regretting not getting a re feeding program too because when I stopped cohens I gained back twice the weight I had lost... yep all that hard work and I stuffed up! so, any advice?

Hi Mermaid Sister and Fifty2Drop,
Welcome back.

Mermaid sister, I completed Cohens refeed back in 2005 (after losing 35kgs) but then due to heaps of issues in my life I have regained all the weight back (with a little bit extra). I started back on Cohens nearly 3 weeks ago and already I am down an amazing 7kgs. I feel fantastic again and I am already starting to fit back into some of my clothes that were too small. I went back on my old program and I have found it is working exactly as it did the first time I completed the program. I didn't get a new program for a few reasons, mainly because I couldn't afford one but also because I weigh almost the same that I did when I started the first time and I can't see there being much difference in a new program. The other reason is that I never got that much support from my clinic when it was open and there is now no clinic anywhere near me plus I heard on the other forum that a couple more clinics have been closed, so I can't see the point in paying 600 or 700 dollars for a program I already have.
I think you would be able to get back on the program without too much trouble. Just remember that the 1st few days are quite hard but once you get through those you'll be positively melting away!!
Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide.
Take care

beck

I am really excited about starting the program and just hope that i can deal with the strict calorie controls. How is it? is there anyone who can give me some advice on pushing through from one week to the other?

Hi Victoria,

The best thing is to remember that the first week is definately the hardest and that once you get over that it is relatively easy. There are not really any calorie requirements but very strict guidelines. Everyone is given a different program with varying weights of meat and veges for each of the meals and then you usually get 2 pieces of fruit and 5 crackers as snacks (or these can be eaten with your meals if you want) and you also have to drink heaps of water. It is very strict but it is also very short term. The weight almost melts off you and you will be flying down through the sizes in no time at all!!! Just remember that it does work (incredibly well) and stick with it 110% and you'll be at the finish line before you know it.
Good luck and I look forward to chatting.
Take care

Beck

My journey

Hi everyone, I am a newcomer to this forum. Thank you to all that take the time to discuss their progress (good and bad) on this thread. I have been reading this section for a little while and it has inspired me to continue my weight loss journey. I started 'Cohen's' December last year and lost 7kgs in the first week and due to Christmas celebrations and the stress that comes with this season I stopped my journey. Now 6 months on I am feeling ready to recommence my journey and open a new chapter of my life. I am looking forward to the support of this site as I am not going through the clinic because I feel their support is very average. D-day is tomorrow as I am very excited I am quietly scared of the cravings and withdrawal of those favourite foods but I know in my heart that this small amount of sacrifice will be well worth it. So watch out for my progress and I am sure to writing on a very regular basis. Till next week. Happy living

Hi everyone!

well, after much deliberating I have decided to give cohens another crack, but this time I have already planned what I am going to eat and going to mix it up. The last time, I stopped for a week and tried to go back on and just the thought of cohens food made me want to purge and I swore I would never ever eat tuna again. So I am starting at the end of this week, I would start now but I have 6 assignments due in the next three days and I really don't have time to be organising, weighing, cooking etc. The good news is I have 7 weeks off uni after this week, so enough time to really get things under way. I am most looking forward to waking up in the morning and feeling like a million bucks because I am sick of being so darn tired all the time!

rjm thanks for all the advice, and I hope you will be on here more often so we can offer each other support

welcome to vic33 and lillymay, lillymay I have almost the same starting weight and goal weight as you so game on lady! good luck to both of you and please don't hesitate to post as much as you like, this forum was my rock last time around!

I will report after my first day woot!

love, love

Hi All. Good on you Mermaid Sister. I usually eat the same food every day, but in the last few days I was having great difficulty. Really craving something yummy. We went to my nieces house (who is an ex Cohenite) and her and her husband cooked me up a really nice dinner which totally satisfied me and helped me get over my cravings. Since then my daughter has announced that she is taking over cooking my food as she is a lot more creative than I am. Since she has taken over my cooking, I don't feel in the least bit deprived and I am totally enjoying each meal. If you try mixing it up a bit you might find that its not as bad as you remember.
Great to see some more people joining in as it gets a bit lonely in here sometimes, but really looking forward to chatting with everyone.

Take care
Beck

4 weeks no deviation

Welcome Lillymay, I haven't posted for a while but I have been reading diaries and forums for inspiration. After 4 weeks on Cohens I have lost 10.5kg with no deviations, blood test tomorrow. My weight loss, after an impressive start, has slowed to 1.5kg/week and I am hoping that it doesn't get any slower. My deviations will commence next weekend when I have to go away and I am apprehensive that I will not be able to get back into Cohens. Although the food is filling, I still find that I want to eat a whole bag of Allens party mix , but thus far I have managed to hold back. I am a fat girl and this is why I put on weight every time I lose it, because normal (skinny) people do not eat a whole bag of lollies or a whole pkt of biscuits. Anyway, keep posting everybody, I especially love Cate's diary, as without this forum I would have succumbed weeks ago.

Congratulations NMW on your 10.5kg weight loss in 4 weeks. I thought I should let you know that is .5 of a kilo more than my first 4 weeks! After the initial 4 weeks I lost either 4 or 5 kilos every 4 weeks. No other 'diet' or program would give you that result. Please don't be disappointed when it slows. It has to. A lot of the initial weight-loss is fluid, from now on it's fat! I'm really glad that my gas-bagging can provide you with support. That is the main reason I stay in the forum. It has helped me so much & still does. Keep up the great work. 100% is the way to go & you will be slim in no time at all, cheers, Cate.
